TEKsystems Product Engineering Architect in Chicago, Illinois

Description

This individual will work closely with development teams, system engineers, and platform operations to create scalable applications on the web. This individual takes a direct hand in the design and architecture of the system and ensures that the applications are scalable and built according to best practices.

Position Responsibilities / Essential Functions

• Oversees and coordinates solution strategies within a specific product area to ensure the technologies are interconnected and scale efficiently to maximize performance.

• Establishes relationships and partners with both internal and external team members.

• Assumes team-level architectural responsibilities, ensuring that the development teams are using the appropriate technology for the problem.

• Expert in and proven experience with design and architecture patterns.

• Considers multiple approaches and recommends the best technical direction including logic and reasoning.

• Evaluates new frameworks and tools, building reference architectures to demonstrate how these technologies can be leveraged by a team

• Creates reusable framework components and pattern libraries that aid development teams utilizing those technologies

• Creates RFC and other documentation to document new standards

• Mentors engineers in scalability, fault tolerance, and other SOA operational concerns.

Experience

• 8+ years of progressively complex experience in full-time development and leadership roles.

• Extensive experience in React, Node, and other JavaScript libraries

• Mastery of HTML, CSS, JavaScript

• API Design and experience with REST and/or GraphQL within an enterprise

• Experience with package managers (npm, yarn)

• Experience with module bundlers like Webpack

• Experience with task runners like Grunt or Gulp

• Familiarity with design systems and coordination of various teams delivering applications based on that

• Experience with UI testing patterns and solutions like Selenium or Cypress

• Experience working with graphic design and converting designs into application deliverables

• Experience with performance testing tuning leveraging appropriate tools

• Proficiency with advanced JS concepts such as ES6 and Typescript

• Mastery of version control systems (Git)

• Experience using monorepos and building web components and/or micro-frontends

• Experience with enterprise production system design including high availability, disaster recovery, and security

• Strong Agile experience preferred in an environment leveraging DevOps patterns and practices

Preferred Skills or Experience

• Experience with the NextJS framework

• Kubernetes and Docker containers

• GitLab for CI/CD

Additional Comments and Requirements

• Excellent interpersonal skills required with a strong customer service orientation

• Is skilled and passionate about software engineering – specifically front-end web development, and someone eager to fill in the gaps in their toolbox

• Ability to work effectively both independently and as a member of a team

• Experience managing multiple tasks at the same time

• Ability to adapt to a changing environment

• Maintains a positive attitude and a learning/growth mindset

• Likes the challenge of simplifying complex systems, and you always consider the big picture even when acting locally.

• Has experience working in agile environments that have embraced DevOps and Continuous Delivery practices.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $70.00 - $85.00/hr.
