About the role:

As the Ocean Freight Forwarding Manager for TQL Global, you will be partnering with our Director of Freight Forwarding and be directly responsible for the development and growth of our international ocean business. This includes overseeing the planning, coordination, and execution of all ocean freight operations. Youll be leading a team of ocean operators, developing and growing relationships with steamship lines, and ensuring all shipments are processed efficiently and in compliance with international regulations.\

What youll be doing:

  • Leading all aspects of our ocean freight forwarding operations, including booking, documentation, shipment tracking, troubleshooting, and delivering on customer expectations
  • Developing, leading, and managing a team of ocean professionals to exceed performance targets and provide industry-leading customer service
  • Reviewing and improving departmental and personalized objectives, expectations, and goals for the ocean operations team
  • Assisting in developing and executing strategies to optimize ocean operations and improve efficiencies
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with ocean carriers, terminals, and other service providers
  • Helping resolve issues with steamship lines, ports and container stations, and carriers
  • Reviewing and negotiating rates and contracts with ocean carriers
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, other government requirements and filings, and company standards
  • Assisting in vendor management to ensure carriers and foreign agents are following proper protocols
  • Communicating and verifying understanding and compliance of policies, procedures, and SOPs to employees across the organization
  • Performing operational tasks and/or offering coverage/support for team members when needed\

What you need:

5+ years of ocean freight forwarding experience

3+ years of leadership experience

Familiarity with freight forwarding software and tools, CargoWise preferred

In depth understanding of ocean freight forwarding operations at a mid-to-large organization
