Manufacturing Engineer/Cnc Programmer

A leading manufacturer in the contract manufacturing industry to the Agricultural, Construction and Forestry industry, has an immediate opening to fill a Manufacturing Engineering/CNC Programmer position in Bridgeview.

Primary Job Function:

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible to develop and evaluate manufacturing processes to support customer prototype and production on new and existing products. Focus is on achieving an optimum relationship between cost and quality utilizing Lean and Six-sigma best practices. This position is responsible for every aspect of manufacturing engineering, production standard costs, tooling recommendations, fixture development, CNC programming, improving operating performance, identifying and reducing waste, and troubleshooting. This position will demand high visibility at the floor level, and team participation in the continuous improvement activities for the business.

  • Support production personnel in the development and implementation of standard work methods geared towards efficient utilization of work cell space, equipment, and product flow.
  • Evaluate manufacturing processes with the goal of continuously improving process performance, machine utilization, and reduction in setup time.
  • Support the new product introduction (NPI), internal process change (IPC), and process validation studies. Maintain visibility at the floor level to ensure a successful launch from cradle to grave.
  • Develops product estimates/quotations using Gibbs Cam, and NC Plot in an Excel format.
  • Implements Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma processes in support of process reliability, and manufacturing cycle time improvement.
  • Develops CNC programs for both turning and milling programs, and troubleshoot the associated processes at the shop floor level.
  • Create 2D drawings and production fixturing through AutoCAD.
  • Develop production sequence/routings, work instructions, and engineering process sketches related to CNC machining.
  • Proactively participates with customers and suppliers on the determination of required product specifications.
  • Approximates production time, and related costs to provide accurate/timely estimates for customer quoting process.
Position Requirements:
  • B.S in an Engineering discipline, preferably Manufacturing Engineering, or a minimum (3) years of machine shop experience required.
  • Experience grounded in low volume/high product mix environment.
  • Experienced with CNC programming (G code) of Mori, Okuma Lathe and Mill, and Haas Milling machinery.
  • Ability to troubleshoot manufacturing processes at the shop floor level based on strong knowledge of cutting tool applications, GD&T, and proficient use of precision measuring gages.
  • Confident self-starter supportive of cross-functional team environment, and development of best practices using six-sigma practices.
Desired Skills:
  • ISO 9001:2008 QMS Environment
  • Must be proficient in Gibbs Cam, AutoCAD, and working knowledge of NC Plot
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, and AS400 system a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
