Technical Operations/Maintenance

At United, our fleet features some of the finest aircraft, meticulously maintained by our adept Technical Operations team. This elite team, comprising maintenance technicians, engineers, planners, ground equipment, facilities, and supply chain management professionals, ensures each aircraft is in detailed condition for flight. Job overview and responsibilities

The Manager—Quality Assurance leads a continuous audit and surveillance program, ensuring the United Technical Operations division complies with company regulations and applicable Federal Aviation Regulations. The manager provides leadership and direction to assigned auditor staff responsible for evaluating business processes, management systems, and relevant vendors performing work for United Airlines.

  • Leads completion of audits and certification of quality systems of vendors that provide maintenance services to United Airlines

  • Leads the investigation of potential non-compliance events related to operational issues. Reports areas requiring corrective action to responsible management and ensure appropriate and effective corrective measures are implemented and maintained

  • Responsible for setting direction and providing mentorship for a team of auditors in meeting all responsibilities, assignments, and professional development

  • Acts as an internal consultant regarding quality assurance standards and on issues of regulatory compliance within United Services and across divisions as appropriate

  • Functions as a primary liaison on behalf of United for industry audit organizations (such as C.A.S.E.) and meets industry requirements.

  • Serves as a liaison with the FAA and government agencies on company regulatory non-compliance

  • Leads FAA official documentation and UAL voluntary disclosures for United Services as required

Qualifications

What’s Needed to Succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

  • Bachelor's degree in aviation-related field

  • Five years of aircraft maintenance, inspection, and related engineering experience

  • Expert knowledge of the Code of Federal Regulations, UA policies, and procedures

  • Confirmed outstanding interpersonal skills, writing skills, critical thinking, and leadership skills

  • The highest standard of ethics and integrity to compliance adherence

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship

  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification

  • Reliable, punctual attendance is a crucial function of the position

What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Ten years of aircraft maintenance, inspection, and related engineering experience, with at least five years in a Quality Assurance or Liaison role.

  • Master's degree or equivalent work experience

  • FAA commercial pilot, Airframe, Powerplant, and other certificates, as applicable

  • Quality Management or Auditing certification

  • Prior experience in managerial positions, applicable quality systems, and other industry certifications in quality will be a plus.

  • Air Carrier Internal Audit experience

  • Air Carrier External (vendor) Audit experience

  • High collaboration, teaming, and employee engagement skills
