Key Responsibilities

As a Base Maintenance Planning Manager, you will lead a dynamic team that plans and executes heavy aircraft maintenance visits. Your role will involve developing strategies, resolving operational challenges, and driving process improvements to enhance maintenance schedules and forecasting. This position requires leadership, innovation, and collaboration to ensure United’s fleet remains reliable and safe.

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of planners, promoting professional growth and team success.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to tackle complex operational challenges and implement practical solutions.

  • Manage long-term planning processes, identifying risks and opportunities to improve efficiency across fleet types.

  • Champion process improvements by refining workflows, integrating feedback, and implementing scalable tools.

  • Effectively communicate updates, initiatives, and insights to leadership and cross-functional teams.

  • Drive strategic initiatives to elevate maintenance planning and optimize team performance.

NOTE: This position is based at the CSC-Willis Tower, located in Chicago, IL, and is considered a hybrid work schedule, with three days in the office.

The salary for this position ranges from $102,000 to $149,600, depending on job-related, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, education, and skills. This range is based on a full-time schedule.

What's needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

  • Bachelor’s degree or 4+ years in Engineering, Aviation Management, Business, or Aircraft Maintenance.

  • At least 4 years of experience in program management, planning, strategy, or continuous improvement.

  • 3+ years of team leadership experience.

  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint, with the ability to quickly learn new tools.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate across all organizational levels.

  • Authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

  • Reliable attendance and successful completion of the interview process

What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):

  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant License.

  • Experience in airline planning, base maintenance, or strategic planning.

  • Knowledge of continuous improvement principles and data analysis techniques.
