  • GENERAL FUNCTION:

Regional sales officer focused on the new business development of investment management services, retirement plan services, trust and custody solutions, and other institutional products. In the support of the sales process, collaborates closely with Institutional Relationship Managers, Institutional Portfolio Managers, Commercial Relationship Managers, and Corporate Banking Officers to provide creative solutions for new business opportunities for institutional clients. The Institutional Sales Officer II leads a consultative sales process and possesses expertise across a breadth of institutional service products, including retirement plan services, investment management solutions, and trust and custody solutions.

Responsible and accountable for risk by openly exchanging ideas and opinions, elevating concerns, and personally following policies and procedures as defined. Accountable for always doing the right thing for customers and colleagues, and ensures that actions and behaviors drive a positive customer experience.

While operating within the Bank's risk appetite, achieves results by consistently identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks of all types.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Drive consultative sales process through self-generated leads and referrals via deep internal partnerships, developing and closing new sales, concentrating on assigned markets and client profiles. Focus is on the largest and most complex sales opportunities that provide significant revenue and margin for Fifth Third Institutional Services.

Achieve financial goals, including revenue and new business goals.

Effectively communicate expertise in a broad array of institutional investment products, including retirement plan services, investment management solutions, and trust and custody solutions.

Proactively execute on One Bank activities, including One Bank Meetings, pre-call planning, and post-call follow-up to win new business opportunities.

Expand external sources of referrals (COIs) by organizing and participating in industry meetings and briefings to promote institutional services products.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

None. However, the Institutional Sales Officer II is expected to assist in the orientation, training and development of the sales force.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Seven or more years’ sales experience. Proven institutional sales experience required.

Bachelor’s degree.

High level of knowledge concerning retirement plans including investments and financial markets.

Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.

Demonstrated exceptional relationship management and collaboration skills.

Exceptional sales and presentation skills.

Ability to use software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, CRM and related systems.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Normal office environment with little exposure to dust, noise, temperature and the like.

Extended viewing of CRT screen.

Travel requirement is approximately 25%, but can be more significant, per regional responsibilities.
