Key Responsibilities:

The Global Procurement - Senior Category Manager handles sourcing for their respective category and leads cross-functional supplier qualification and sourcing activities for assigned categories. This role is the strategic interface towards suppliers and is accountable for building strong and strategic supplier relationships, ensuring alignment, anticipating changes, and driving activities based on supply market changes and recommendations of task forces.

The Global Procurement - Senior Category Manager supports United’s Global Procurement efficiently, entirely leading sourcing initiatives within the designated categories. This role is responsible for meeting and exceeding business objectives regarding the scope of service, quality, risk mitigation, delivery timing, and cost.

  • Lead end-to-end accountability for defining the category and supplier strategy with partners in line with the mentorship of the commercial task force.

  • Drive supplier selection according to category strategy, supplier base development, task force recommendations, and identification of new suppliers.

  • Negotiate contractual terms to drive savings and reduce overall risks while ensuring partners’ needs are met.

  • Ensures alignment, anticipates changes, and drives activities based on supply market changes and recommendations of task forces.

  • Lead business relationships with key internal partners and external suppliers, including routine improvements to agreements, communication of demand/volume changes, updating contracts, and sharing end-user feedback.

  • Promotes partnership and communication between internal partners across participating entities.

  • Lead the creation and management of Request for Information (RFI), Request for Quote (RFQ), and Request for Proposal (RFP) documents to solicit bids and evaluate suppliers.

  • Leverage Coupa knowledge to streamline purchasing, track orders, and lead supplier relationships.

  • Apply criteria such as cost, quality, delivery, and capacity to select the best suppliers.

Qualifications

What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Legal, Supply Chain, or another business-related field.

  • 4+ years of consulting, sourcing, legal, audit, or finance experience

  • Highly analytical with excellent problem-solving skills

  • Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship building skills.

  • Strong cross-functional leadership skills.

  • Experience with both internal partner and supplier relationship management,

  • Ability to work independently.

  • Efficient conflict resolution skills.

  • Excellent market information analysis skills and supply market knowledge

  • Skilled in strategic-minded project management

  • Works well in a high-paced, cross-functional environment

What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Master's degree and/or MBA

  • 5+ year track record in Strategic Procurement

  • Previous experience with assigned category preferred

  • Experience/understanding of airport operations, business partners, contracts, policy and any compliance efforts

  • CPM (Certified Purchasing Manager)

  • Experience with transportation fuel, aviation fuel

  • Proficient in data analysis and visualization, reporting and business intelligence tools.

The base pay range for this role is $99,750.00 to $135,960.00.

The base salary range/hourly rate listed is dependent on job-related, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, education, and skills. This position is also eligible for bonus and/or long-term incentive compensation awards.
