Sargent & Lundy Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Program Coordinator in Chicago, Illinois

Description

Sargent & Lundy provides comprehensive consulting, engineering, design, and analysis for electric power generation and power delivery projects worldwide. We have a highly professional and experienced staff dedicated to the energy business.

We are seeking a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Program Coordinator to lead our organization's efforts in fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace and community.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive DEI strategies, initiatives, and action plans that align with our company’s values and business goals.

  • Provide guidance and support to employee resource groups and the DEI advisory council, encouraging their active participation in promoting diversity and inclusion within the organization.

  • Develop communication strategies to raise awareness of DEI efforts and celebrate diversity achievements throughout the organization.

  • Collaborate with HR, senior leadership, and various teams to integrate DEI principles into recruitment, hiring, onboarding, training, and career development processes.

  • Establish and maintain metrics to measure the effectiveness of DEI programs and initiatives, regularly assessing progress and making data-driven recommendations for improvement.

  • Develop and conduct training and workshops to raise awareness and enhance understanding of DEI issues, fostering a more inclusive and culturally competent workforce.

  • Act as a liaison with external organizations and communities to enhance partnerships and drive meaningful DEI initiatives in our broader communities.

  • Stay informed about engineering and energy industry best practices, trends, and legal requirements related to diversity, equity, and inclusion, incorporating them into our company’s policies and practices.

Qualifications

This position requires:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field

  • Experience developing and implementing DEI programs, or a similar role

  • Strong understanding of DEI concepts, best practices, and current trends

  • Sensitivity to cultural differences and a commitment to promoting equity and fairness

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to lead cross-functional teams

  • Data-driven mindset with the ability to analyze and interpret metrics

  • Collaborative and strategic thinker with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization

  • Routinely handle confidential information

  • Familiarity with applicable labor laws and regulations related to diversity, equity, and inclusion
