Robert Half Accountant in Chicago, Illinois

Description We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a Junior Accountant in the Healthcare, Hospitals, and Social Assistance industry, based in Chicago, Illinois. This role involves supporting the Finance Department with routine and non-routine duties, with an emphasis on general ledger management, account reconciliations, journal entry postings, grant coding, accounts payable, as well as month-end and year-end financial reporting.

Responsibilities:

• Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, documenting business transactions.

• Take responsibility for the preparation and maintenance of the General Ledger; conducting journal entries and G/L account reconciliation and related work papers.

• Oversee the monthly reconciliation of company bank accounts.

• Handle general accounting and patient service accounting.

• Assist with year-end audit procedures and preparation.

• Perform and complete special projects as assigned.

• Utilize skills in Accounts Payable (AP), Journal Entries, Grant Accounting, Month End Close, Year End Closings, and Microsoft Excel. Requirements • Minimum of 3 years of experience in an Accountant role within the Healthcare, Hospitals, or Social Assistance industry

• Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) processes and procedures

• Experience with Journal Entries and Grant Accounting is required

• Demonstrated ability to handle Month End Close and Year End Closings

• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel for financial analysis and reporting

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field is preferred

• Certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is beneficial

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• High attention to detail and accuracy in work

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

• Familiarity with accounting software and systems

• Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development and learning

• Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information.
