In this role…

At Ford, Software Engineering Managers are engineers themselves. You will work on complex applications with other engineers and experts in cloud technologies. As a manager, you will be leading from the front for a team that supports building a digital environment for customer experience-focused initiatives.

What you'll do...

  • Lead software engineering teams that deliver end-to-end software products

  • Manage and grow software engineers by providing regular mentorship, career coaching, and performance feedback

  • Apply advanced concepts, theories, and principles to create multi-disciplinary innovations and solutions for the most complex or risky business situations

  • Actively participate in reviewing, evaluating, and providing feedback on product designs and architectures with a software engineering focus

  • Actively seek to improve the engineering delivery pipeline reducing cycle time and increasing quality and security posture

  • Develop and socialize new engineering principles and practices to improve the organization

  • Evaluate and recommend new and emerging products and technologies

  • Provide thought leadership and perspective across multiple organizations to eliminate knowledge silos

  • Drive continuous improvement and build a learning organization

*You'll have... *

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical engineering or related field OR a combination of education and equivalent work experience

  • 10+ years of hands-on software engineering experience preferably in mobile applications, web, API, or full-stack development

  • 10+ years of SQL and NoSQL database experience

  • 8+ years of experience on programming and design patterns; proficient knowledge in Java, Typescript, JavaScript, Python and Native App development a PLUS

  • 6+ years of experience in a management role, leading agile teams and delivering software products to market

  • 6+ years of experience with software operations (Source Management, Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment, DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, Observability, Support and maintenance)

  • 5+ years of Cloud Platforms and Products in AWS, GCP and/or Azure

  • 4+ years of experience with budgets, technical planning, and solution architecture

Even better, you may have…

  • Previous experience scaling applications and infrastructure

  • Previous experience in design and development leveraging agile methodologies

  • Experience in managing cross-functional technical design and delivery dependencies across complex systems

  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
