Boston College Assistant/Associate Director, Facilities & Operations in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts

Job Description

Responsible for all aspects of facility management of outdoor athletic facilities including Newton Campus Soccer/Lacrosse and Field Hockey Fields, Harrington Athletics Village baseball and softball fields, the Pete Frates Center and potentially the Newton Support Building (opens January 2027). Management of event operations for assigned varsity sports associate with these facilities including production of event budgets, check lists, timelines, event detail sheets and post event notes. In particular, assists with football operations and facility needs for the home football games related to on campus parking and areas outside Alumni Stadium and/or Conte Forum. Management of all camps and clinic operations for the Athletic Department, ensuring that facilities are available and that all codes, policies, regulations and background checks for the camp and staff are fulfilled. Work with Athletic Department, Employment Office, Controller’s Office and various constituencies to review the current structure of camps and clinics to propose possible changes to structure, policies and procedures that will ensure NCAA compliance as well as create efficiencies while maintaining proper controls.

Qualified candidates must be able to handle the customer service aspects of event/facility management and operations. The incumbent must demonstrate an effective customer service orientation and be able to answer a variety of questions, receive customer compliments and complaints, and determine when to escalate issues. Issues must be handled in a timely manner. Facility scheduling requires the ability to prioritize program needs based on department policies. Communication skills are extremely important. Time sensitive projects incorporate game day timelines. The incumbent must have the ability to react to problems, conflicts and issues that can arise at any time.

Title and salary commensurate with relevant experience

Requirements

Associate Director: minimum of 3 years of experience with athletic event/facility management/operations, athletic camps/clinics and athletic scheduling at the collegiate/professional level.

Assistant Director: some experience in with athletic event/facility management/operations, athletic camps/clinics and athletic scheduling at the collegiate level

  • Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Strong customer service with the ability to troubleshoot and handle pressure situations

  • Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook) and desktop publishing software

  • Must be willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays

  • Must be in fair physical condition with the ability to lift and move items (approximately 50 pounds)
