The Senior Attorney will model continuous learning and guide decision makers and staff to ensure that transactions and activities are legally and ethically sound.The Senior Attorney will independently provide high value legal services on complex matters to advance priorities and appropriately manage risk to assigned programs. They will apply highly developed analytical and risk management skills to serve organizational needs efficiently and effectively, clearly articulate complex legal concepts and options to staff, project managers, high-level managers and the Board of Directors. They will also ensure that transactions and activities are consistent with the organization's mission, authority, policies, and procedures. TNC's Global Legal Team, West-Canada Division, is seeking an experienced, creative, strategic attorney with demonstrated good judgment, broad transactional experience, initiative, effective communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. The ideal candidate will have a refined sense of risk and how to cultivate and manage relationships.The Senior Attorney will work collaboratively and efficiently to advise decision-makers in evolving and uncertain environments. They will also have emotional intelligence, authenticity, integrity, and the ability to work independently. They will be a thought partner to our project teams in developing innovative solutions, passionate about TNC's mission and goals, and will add to and develop its culture in an inclusive and equitable manner. They will also be able to work sensitively and ethically with a variety of communities to advance shared goals.As Senior Attorney, you are a motivated individual capable of working independently and providing high value legal services to the organization. You will be our go-to person in providing sound legal advice and risk management. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the ongoing mission of conservation by directing and shaping the work of our Legal team!WHAT YOU'LL BRINGJuris Doctorate or equivalent and license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.7 years relevant legal experience as an attorney.Experience negotiating complex, sensitive or high-profile transactions and agreements.DESIRED QUALIFICATIONSMulti-lingual skills and multi-cultural experience appreciated.Experience managing other attorneys and/or legal support staff.Experience in one or more of the following legal subjects: real estate and land use, commercial contracts, technology and intellectual property, commercial or property litigation, Indian law and indigenous sovereignty, grants and public funding, environmental protection and related administrative law, tax-exempt and nonprofit organizations and related tax issues.In-house experience and/or law firm experience advising sophisticated clients and senior management.Experience developing, directing and managing multiple projects and implementing strategic program goals.WHAT WE BRINGSince 1951, TNC has been doing work you can believe in. This range only applies to candidates whose country of employment is the USA. Where a successful candidate's actual pay will fall within this range will be based on a variety of factors, including, for example, the candidate's location, qualifications, specific skills, and experience. Please note countries outside the USA would have a different pay range in the local currency based on the local labor market, and not tied to USA pay or ranges.
