Purpose of the role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Scheduler to join us on a 6 months fixed term basis to cover maternity, you will be based at Guilden Sutton depot, Chester(CH2 4EX).Reporting to the Planning and Programming Manager, you will be w orking in a busy TMC Control room, planning work requests from the client for reactive and cyclic maintenance activities, monitoring and reacting to change or requests for urgent works from the highway authority. Ensuring response times are met. Live monitoring of activities and ensuring efficient working practices. Assist in organising resources for Highway Emergencies and winter response.

Main Responsibilities

As a Project Scheduler your key responsibilities will be t o programme and record current and future works for the operational team, allocating the required resource to enable to works contract to be delivered on time whilst highlighting and identifying any resourcing issues to the Operations team. You will be required to support the Operational team and Workshop team with a range of office-based tasks and be proactive in all elements of the role always, searching for new and improved ways of working. You will m onitor activity times and make changes to programmes and schedules to meet ever changing client requirements. You will be responsible for reporting and managing non-compliance to programme or schedule. Actively participate in managing outputs of gangs and plan and schedule works in the most efficient. Any other reasonable duties as requested by management. You will be dealing with and answering general queries daily, ensuring Senior Management are made aware of any issues or concerns particularly relating to health and safety and plant and equipment matters. Ensure that the highest level of Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental Procedures are always followed, highlighting any concerns to Senior Management. Allocating appropriate staff to the works considering their experience, competence, from the previous day(s). Ensuring that they obtain sufficient break/rest between their shifts to ensure compliance with working time directive regulations.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate for the Project Scheduler role will have GCSE A* - C in English and Maths, this is desirable. Experience within Highways and reactive maintenance experience such as pothole repairs and organising response to Highway emergencies would be advantageous but not essential, we are looking for someone who has demonstrable track record and skills/experience gained within a similar position(s), at a similar level and who has worked in a fast paced, reactive environment.

You will have to work collaboratively with others to provide a high-quality service. You will have c redible and confident communicator (written and verbal) at all levels, mindful of the target audience. You will be a proactive individual, highly committed with an energised and motivated approach. You will have the ability to prioritise, demonstrate first class organisational skills and time management skills. Meticulous attention to detail, with the ability to work accurately in a busy and demanding environment. It is a essential you have g ood IT skills e.g. Microsoft Office.
