About the Opportunity - Principal Safety Case Engineer (Multiple Locations)

Amentum is currently recruiting for Principal Nuclear Safety Case Engineers to join our Nuclear Power business. Our offices are located in Dorchester, Gloucester, Knutsford, London and Newcastle, with a significant number of other locations around the UK that could also be used as a base as required. We operate flexible and hybrid working arrangements and these roles can either be full time or part time.

We are seeing an unprecedented growth in nuclear safety case opportunities. Our Safety Case Engineers are working collaboratively across diverse markets in the civil nuclear and Defence sectors on both national and international projects. The work within our Energy business covers next-generation systems, emerging reactor technologies and supporting the operation of existing nuclear facilities and systems. This role will allow you to work in a growing market with an organisation that supports a diverse and extensive client base, aiding your personal and professional career goals. We are interested in hearing from you if you have experience in one of the following Safety Case areas:

  • Safety Case production.

  • Safety and Risk assessment studies, e.g. FMEA, HAZOP, ALARP.

  • Internal and External Hazard assessments.

  • Deterministic and Probabilistic Safety Assessments (PSA).

  • Safety Regulatory and Licencing assessments.

  • Independent assurance review of safety documentation.

The key responsibilities for this role are:

  • Delivering work to agreed budgets and timescales to ensure client satisfaction, often undertaking the lead role on tasks.

  • Liaising with clients to develop relationships, understand their challenges and developing and presenting solutions.

  • Representing the business in technical meetings with clients, regulators and other third parties.

  • Leading the development of contract proposals and tenders to address clients’ needs and demonstrate value.

  • Maintaining the technical capability/knowledge of the community and mentoring junior team members.

  • Proven experience in the development of Safety Case documentation and tasks within a nuclear or highly regulated environment.

  • Demonstrate successful delivery of Safety Case tasks and providing solutions to clients.

  • Experience of executing project tasks against relevant standards and best practices.

  • Good communication skills and ability to articulate information to a broad range of stakeholders.

  • Chartered Member of a professional institute, or equivalent demonstrable experience.
