Robert Half Network Engineer I in Chesapeake, Virginia

Description We are offering a role for a Network Engineer in the local government sector, based in Chesapeake, Virginia. The primary job function will involve maintaining and optimizing our network infrastructure. This opportunity offers a short term contract employment opportunity.

Responsibilities:

• Design, configure, and deploy network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and other network devices, utilizing skills in Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), Checkpoint, Cisco ASA, Cisco Routers, and Cisco Technologies.

• Carry out network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hotfixes, and security configurations.

• Monitor network performance and troubleshoot network issues to ensure optimal performance and uptime.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support organizational initiatives and projects requiring network expertise.

• Implement and maintain network security protocols, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.

• Assist in the documentation of network configurations, processes, and procedures.

• Utilize skills in Computer Hardware, Configuration Management, Design, Eigrp, and Firewall Technologies to effectively perform tasks.

• Ensure the efficient processing of customer credit applications and the maintenance of accurate customer credit records.

• Monitor customer credit accounts and take appropriate action to collect delinquent payments. Requirements • Must have a strong understanding of Border Gateway Protocol (BGP)

• Proficiency in Checkpoint is required

• Demonstrated expertise in Cisco ASA

• Must be adept at working with Cisco Routers

• Knowledge of Cisco Technologies is essential

• Familiarity with Computer Hardware is required

• Proficiency in Configuration Management is needed

• Ability to execute Design tasks efficiently

• Must have a good understanding of Eigrp

• Demonstrated expertise in Firewall Technologies is required

• Previous experience in a local government setting is beneficial

• Must be willing to work as part of a team as well as independently

• Excellent problem-solving skills are necessary

• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are required

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred

• Relevant certifications would be advantageous

• Must be willing to keep up-to-date with the latest industry trends and developments

• Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
