Function:
Act as integral part of Regional Accounting Team and provide accounting support and expertise to Regional Accounting Manager, Finance Business Partner and leadership for multiple sites (locations). Perform transactional and general ledger activities throughout the month, including a heavy emphasis on period end closings.
Scope of Responsibility:
General accounting and month end activities for Chesapeake, Virginia and Addison, Illinois plants, collaborating with and supporting accounting team members, cross-functional groups on site, and the Business Service Center
Principal Accountabilities:
Focus on Process- and Efficiency-improvement, identifying and escalating issues and delays
Ensure accounting and reporting activities are completed timely and in accordance with company policies (US GAAP)
Perform month end closing journal entries
Reconcile assigned key accounts, offering proactive support and service about all the specific and usual requests of the work team
Analyze account balances and activity. Take the appropriate measures to increase the accuracy of the accounting records
Supplemental disclosure reporting
Work closely with BSC (Business Service Center) to ensure accurate transacting and reporting
Support plant- and company-wide initiatives related to shortening the close process, efficiency KPIs, rework, scrap, etc.
Assist with documentation, explanations, and ad hoc reporting related to interim and year end audits
Assist with Inventory accounting including physical cycle counts and other physical counts as needed throughout the year.
Work with the Finance Business Partner organization on reporting needs as requested. Including daily and weekly reports on sales, absorption, collections.
Work cross-functionally with Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Planning, Project Management, and Engineering to complete all job responsibilities on a timely basis
Required Skills/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
3-5 years relevant accounting experience at industrial manufacturing companies
Good interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
Ability to multi-task and work independently.
Intermediate to advanced excel spreadsheet skills required.
Must be a team player, who is committed to company and individual performance targets. Must be a self-starter and willing to ask questions when unsure.
Able to work on cross-functional teams with minimal supervision
Works independently, able to ensure tight corporate reporting deadline adherence. Able to effectively communicate findings and concerns to management.
Experience in technical accounting or review and compliance with company accounting policies
Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills; ability to apply judgement and operate effectively in a decentralized and dynamic environment
Attention to detail and accuracy with the ability to package and present complex information in an effective and efficient manner
Able to multi-task in high pressure, time-constrained situations
Strong oral and written communication skills
Preferred Skills/Experience:
- Experience with a large ERP system (SAP preferred). Familiarity with BPC also a plus
