Summary This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies. Applications will not be accepted through this flyer. Responsibilities You will ensure that needed plans, blueprints, materials, and tools are available, and that needed stock is obtained from supply locations. You will maintain a current knowledge and answer questions of other works on procedures, policies, written instructions, and other directives. You will receive instructions and projects from the supervisor and distribute work within the branch for performance. You will be required to have extensive detailed knowledge of over 20,000 transmission lines consisting of numerous miles of fiber optic and copper cables. You will splice, test, repair, and analyze fiber optic cable and transmission systems. You will be required to install, close, access, reopen, repair, and troubleshoot splice closures for all direct buried, conduit and aerial cable systems. You will wrap exposed wires with appropriate insulation, and pours melted insulating material into splice as appropriate. You will cut and fit lead sleeve over joint, filing, scraping, and dressing edges of sleeve to obtain tight junction with cable sheath. You will test and repair communication cables. You will inspect cable for damaged sheath, and determine location of leads or broken wires, using buzzer, megger, and Wheatstone bridge.
