Job Summary

The Support Staff Shift Leader supervises daily worksite operations in our community center’s café or marketplace to ensure an effective and supportive environment for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (ID/DD) volunteering or working in those sites as well as any other individuals potentially volunteering in those spaces.

Job Responsibilities

  • Supervise individuals with ID/DD (our clients) and other volunteers as they perform tasks.

  • Prepare and document structured routines and job expectations for clients at the worksite.

  • Perform task/job analyses to break down responsibilities into manageable, teachable components.

  • Receive, inspect, label, categorize, and track inventory.

  • Stock shelves and maintain accurate records to ensure smooth daily operations.

  • Communicate effectively with customers to provide excellent service

  • Confirm register balance at the beginning and end of each shift and complete end of shift report.

  • Track and report the daily progress of clients, identifying successes and areas needing support.

  • Report operational or client-related issues to the supervisor through phone calls, emails, or supervision meetings as needed.

  • Assist in implementing approved marketing initiatives to enhance community engagement.

  • Review and respond to e-mails or text messages from Manager of Support Staff regarding scheduling and any other changes pertaining to the client and worksite.

  • Assist with daily tasks and responsibilities in the café or marketplace to support operations when necessary.

  • Complete daily progress note documentation as required by JFCS, DDD (Division of Developmental Disabilities) and contracted school districts.

  • Provide ongoing training, coaching, and mentorship to help clients and volunteers build skills and confidence.

  • Collaborate with staff and leadership to improve processes and ensure an inclusive and supportive work environment for all participants.

Required Education & Experience:.

  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, sociology, or related field or two years’ experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities.

  • Must be 18 years or older.
