Jewish Federation of Southern NJ Manager of Community Relations in Cherry Hill, New Jersey

The Jewish Federation of Southern New Jersey is seeking a dynamic and dedicated individual to fill the newly created role of Community Engagement Specialist - Israeli Relations and Antisemitism Prevention. This position plays a crucial role in strengthening the Federation's ties with the local Israeli community, informing the wider community about the Federation's initiatives, and actively contributing to efforts against antisemitism in Southern New Jersey and beyond.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Promote Federation's Work:

• Engage and build relationships with the local Israeli and broader Jewish community to share and promote the Federation's mission, projects, and services.

• Actively participate in community events and outreach activities to ensure the Federation's work is widely known and appreciated.

  1. Teen Advocacy and Education:

Work with existing staff to:

• Provide guidance and educational support for teen advocacy programs in local schools and youth groups.

• Conduit to community to learn of issues in the schools and to provide Federation resources to assist with resolutions.

• Available to attend Board of Education meeting as needed

  1. Community Representation:

• Attend local group meetings as a representative of the Federation, conveying community concerns, interests, and advocating for the Federation's involvement in relevant activities.

• Channel community feedback and activities to the Federation for strategic planning.

• Work with advocacy groups/lobbyists on troubleshooting and developing a strategy for change.

  1. Community Awareness:

    • Ensure the local community is well-informed about all programs and services provided by the Federation and its family of agencies.

• Communicate Federation agency activities and how the community can be involved. Educate the community on the efforts of the Federation

• Implement strategies to enhance public awareness and understanding of the Federation's impact.

• Facilitate initiatives that bring Israeli and American Jews together, fostering a stronger and more united community.

• Identify community influencers to work with and assist with community wide conversations.

  1. IAC and Grassroots Liaison:

• Serve as the primary liaison with the Israeli American Council (IAC) to ensure alignment with the Federation's objectives and proper utilization of annual allocations. Help determine if allocations will be made.

• Connect leaders and volunteers of grassroots efforts with Federation to partner on programs and to share information.

  1. Other Duties:

• Execute additional responsibilities as assigned by the Federation CEO or agency executive.

• Global Connections – Vet and convene committee regarding allocations to Israel and overseas.

• Assist with JFCS as needed.

• Work with marketing on social media updates

Required Experience/Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Jewish Studies, International Relations, Community Development).

  • Must speak Hebrew

  • Strong understanding of Jewish culture, values, and community dynamics.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Demonstrated experience in community engagement, advocacy, or related fields.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups and stakeholders.

  • Familiarity with antisemitism issues and a commitment to combating discrimination.
