Looking for a Lead Ultrasound Radiographer!
Summary: Oversees the daily assignments and workflow of the staff sonographers by training, allocating, and monitoring work. Assist with the recruitment and interviewing of the sonographer candidates and collaborates with the manager in completing the introductory and annual performance reviews. Responsible for preparing the work schedules, scheduled My-Time, and assignments. Maintains established departmental policies/procedures, scanning protocol, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards. The Lead Sonographer will assure preventive maintenance of all ultrasound equipment with up-to-date maintenance records. Coordinate service call for equipment, as needed, with the service contract company. Maintain a logbook of calls and responses. Assist in the preparation of documentation/application for required departmental certifications and accreditation. Coordinates ordering of clinical supplies. Maintains the Anomalies logbook, updating data and providing post-delivery outcomes. Performs monthly chart review of ultrasound images and documentation in compliance with AIUM Guidelines. Attends monthly departmental PI meeting and staff meeting. The Lead Sonographer will assist the manager with planning and executing monthly Perinatal Grand Rounds and Bimonthly staff in-services/article reviews. Assist in projects as requested by the Nurse Manager/Medical Director. Performs Specialized Obstetrical & Gynecological Ultrasounds in the Maternal Fetal Medicine Department. Assist in the care of the high-risk obstetrical patients and their families. Performs Antenatal Testing/Biophysical Profiles, Transabdominal and/or Transvaginal Ultrasound at all Stages of Gestation, provide Ultrasound Guidance for Invasive Diagnostic Procedures for High-Risk Pregnancies, i.e., Amniocentesis, Chorionic Villus Sampling, and Selective Reduction. Exams are performed in the out-patient office setting of Maternal Fetal Medicine and in-patient Labor and Delivery.
Responsibilities:
• Obtains patient history, previous reports, and relevant laboratory data.
• Conducts detailed Obstetrical Ultrasounds at all stages of gestation. This includes Dating Scan to establish the patient’s EDD (Estimated Date of Delivery), Biometry/Growth Scan, Sequential Screen for Nuchal Translucency, Detailed Anatomy Scan, Amniocentesis, Chorionic Villi Sampling, Transvaginal Ultrasound for Cervical Length, Fetal Echocardiogram, Complete Pelvic Ultrasound and Adnexae.
• Performs Gynecological Ultrasounds including Follicular monitoring, measurements of the uterus and ovaries, evaluation of pelvic masses, and pre-conceptual Saline Hysterosalpingogram.
• Performs Biophysical Profiles and Doppler flow studies.
• Performs Fetal Echocardiograms, utilizing 2D, M-mode, and Doppler.
• Provides ultrasound guidance, including a needle guide, in invasive procedures including but not limited to Amniocentesis, Chorionic Villi Sampling, and Fetal Reduction.
• Observes sterile technique when assisting in invasive procedures.
• Enters preliminary reports and data into computer system.
• Verbally reports unusual occurrences and new findings to Physician and Nurse Manager.
• Maintains professional, courteous, and cooperative manner with patients, co-workers, and public.
• Proof-reads reports, edits as indicated and enters referring Physician’s information.
• Participates in research and education/attends departmental meetings, lectures, and article reviews.
• Participates in the training of Per Diem/Agency OB/GYN Sonographers/ and Students.
• Maintains sonographic equipment in good working condition and reports deficiencies as necessary.
• Perform daily quality controls on Cidex Solution and Test Strips, using appropriate personal safety equipment provided.
• Understands and adheres to PMPH's compliance standards as they appear in PMPH’s Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.
• Keeps abreast of all federal, state, and PMPH’s regulations, laws and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
• Performs duties in accordance with Penn Medicine and entity values, policies, and procedures
Credentials:
Current RDMS in OB/GYN- Active Status (Required)
Current certification in Nuchal Translucency and Cervical Length Assessment (Required)
Certification in Fetal Echocardiography (Preferred)
Obtains CME credits regularly to retain active registry status (Required)
Education or Equivalent Experience:
Bachelor's Degree (Preferred)
A graduate of a CAAHEP approved Ultrasound School. (Required)
5+ years A minimum of 5 years experience in Maternal Fetal Medicine for High Risk Pregnancies. (Preferred)
