Emerson Engineer -QA/QC in CHENNAI, India
Job Summary:
If you are a Quality professional, Emerson has an exciting role for you! We are looking for a Quality engineer to work for our Pressure Management Business unit, Mahindra World City, Chengalpattu location. This QA/QC Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and handling quality assurance and quality control processes to ensure that products meet the required standards and specifications. This role involves both preventative measures (QA) and active inspection (QC) to maintain high-quality levels throughout the production or fabrication process for Natural Gas Skid.
In this Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
Quality Assurance (QA):
Process Development: Implement quality assurance processes and standards to be followed during product development and manufacturing.
Policy Implementation: Ensure that all quality policies and procedures are adhered to, and work to continuously improve them at supplier or vendor.
Auditing: Conduct internal audits to ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
Risk Management: Identify potential quality risks in the production / Fabrication process and develop mitigation strategies.
Documentation: Develop and maintain comprehensive QA documentation.
Quality Control (QC):
Develops and implements a project quality plan to meet the quality requirements of the project and provide monthly status report to the Project Manager.
Supervises the activities described in the project plans, relative to the quality of the project, which have implications in the contract, and ensures that project activities are integrated with the procedures and processes of PMO.
Establishing control procedures for skids manufacturing; safe & reliable Quality in Procurement, Inspection of buy-out equipment and fabrication work; Compliance with the contract terms and relevant codes and standards.
Review tender document during proposal stage and provide technical queries related to quality.
Coordinate with internal team to provide the Quality document related to project for customer approval.
Perform regular inspections of raw materials, components, and finished products to ensure they meet quality standards, and the inspection are considered in line to customer approved QAP/ITP.
Conduct tests to identify any deviations from the specified quality standards, including destructive and non-destructive testing as applicable w.r.to project requirements.
Investigate product defects or non-conformities, and work with the production team to address and resolve issues.
Evaluate and supervise the quality of Fabricator / Supplier / vendor and work with them to resolve any quality issues.
Timely review & approval of supplier QAP, test certificates, documents for incoming items.
Organize TPI inspection at Supplier / Vendor location inline to project requirement.
Co-ordinates external customer/supplier/3rd party audits and handle the corrective actions to a successful closure.
Collaborating closely with suppliers and internal stack holders related to customer quality complaints and on time closing of these complaints with proper Rout cause
analysis & CAPA.
Compilation of all MDR documents such as inspection reports, test certificate, and other project documents in line to QAP/ITP.

For This Role, You Will Need:
Strong understanding of QA/QC principles and methodologies.
Proficiency in quality management systems (QMS).
Good technical knowledge and exposure in the skid fabrication processes including familiarity with codes such as ASME Sec-V, IIIV & IX, ASME B31.1, B31.3, B31.8, ASTM / API and AWS D1.1 standards.
NDT Level-II certification (PT, MPI, RT & UT) required and Welding inspector Certificate (CSWIP/AWS) optional.
Knowledge on technical drawings, Specification & Quality standards and datasheets.
Ability to interpret NDT activities such as Visual inspection, Dye penetrant / Magnetic particle test and Radiography Film.
Good knowledge of piping materials, structures, instrumentation, electrical and welding process.
Working experience in skid projects execution and ability to work independently.
Good knowledge & hands-on experience in fabrication, inspection, review of GAD, ISO drawing and BOM.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Flexibility to travel to Fabricator / Supplier location to supervise and inspect the activities in line to QAP/ITP.
Conversant in English is a must and ability to speak Hindi is an advantage.
Ability to identify and implement areas of improvements.
Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in engineering (Mechanical, Materials, Oil & Gas, Electrical and Instrumentation) required.
6 years or more experience in QA/QC roles, preferably within Natural gas skid, Power Plant, Boilers, Refinery, Oil and gas, manufacturing industries.
