Position : Data Protection Engineer II

Job Purpose :

The Data Protection Engineer II will provide experienced data backup administration, execute procedures for break/fix repair, handle change requests, and schedule maintenance. Also, you will assist in the implementation and support of data backup systems.

Essential Functions :

• 40% - Manage data backup resources for optimal performance; Ongoing reviews of the existing backup architecture, policies, scalability, and operational considerations and current usage of backup technologies.

• 30% - Lead and participate in backup-related projects

• 20% - Resolve escalated customer issues. This includes being able to assist with customer inquiries; understand client-side operations and provide client configuration and support

• 10% - Prepare capacity and growth plans

Education:

Four years of college resulting in a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent

Certifications, Accreditations, Licenses:

• N/A

Experience:

• 3-6 years of professional experience

Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Backup and Recovery understanding of MS-SQL, Oracle, SAP, MS Exchange, SharePoint or other applications preferred

• Hands-on experience with SNMP monitoring tools

• General understanding of IP subnetting, including variable-length subnet masks

• Hands-on experience with SAN storage

• Customer-focused interpersonal skills in a support environment preferred

• Data Domain experience is a plus

• Must possess excellent communication skills

• Experience with ITIL process tools (i.e. HP Service Desk)

Supervisory Responsibility :

This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment :

The work is performed remotely or in an office environment
