Description:
Seeking PTA to work primarily weekends and cover vacations on inpatient rehab unit. May also cover acute care as needed when census or staffing requires.
Position Summary:
The Rehabilitation Services Physical Therapist Assistant provides treatment of patients in a range of specialty programs, as directed by a Physical Therapist.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Consults with the primary Physical Therapist to implement and progress the patient plan of care.
Gathers data on patient status to assist the Physical Therapist in monitoring patient progress and response to treatment.
Following the plan of care established by the primary physical therapist, consults with other team members to address the needs and capabilities of the patient.
Coordinates with primary physical therapist to ensure timely re-evaluations are completed.
Implements patient care in a manner consistent with the therapy goals, treatment protocols available, APTA standards, and the changing needs of the patient, using a variety of therapeutic approaches.
Completes daily charges for each patient while adhering to ethical practices per insurance guidelines for each payer.
Provides thorough documentation on each patient interaction. Documentation must be timely and include all pertinent information required by state law, accrediting agencies and 3rd party payers.
Stays up to date on all participating insurance guidelines for rehabilitation services.
Orients patients and families to the therapeutic purposes and procedures of physical therapy and educates on home programs, impairments, progress, and discharge plans.
Provides for own professional growth and education and contributes to staff development activities.
Participates in supervision of PTA student affiliations as assigned by the Clinical Coordinator, Student Program Coordinator or student’s Clinical Instructor.
Works with site leader and secretarial staff to ensure schedules are managed well to achieve targeted productivity and clinic budget.

Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education, Experience and Certification/Licensure
Completion of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant training program. Licensed as a Physical Therapist Assistant in Michigan.
