We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Purchasing Agent in the Downtown Chattanooga area!

This role is on-site, contract to hire, with full-time standard business hours Mon-Fri 8am-5pm.

Responsibilities:

• Lead daily purchasing activities, including buying and expediting goods and services required for production, sales, facilities, and administrative support

• Manage and control the company’s external suppliers, focusing on the purchase of materials and finished parts for production

• Ensure materials and components are bought at the most competitive prices and delivered on time for production

• Build strategic relationships with key suppliers aligned to the company's needs

• Monitor and report on vendor performance and cost consistently

• Identify new suppliers and negotiate discount structures and volume rebates where appropriate

• Maintain stringent material controls to meet company targets, including spend, usage, scrap, inventory levels

• Continually improve purchasing methods and drive down external spending

• Adhere to internal processes for Purchase Order generation, maintenance, and vendor maintenance

• Foster close working relationships with associated departments such as Production, Engineering, and Finance.

Requirements

• Proficient in managing purchase orders

• Experience with MS Dynamics is a plus (not required)

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel (standard user)

• Experience in RFQ (Request for Quotation) processes

• Demonstrable skills in negotiation and vendor management

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to analyze market trends and apply insights to procurement strategies

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
