Job Description
Summer 2025 MBA Investments - Credit Research Intern
The position requires a high level of technical expertise and relies on increasing business knowledge with some management review. Candidate will support senior analysts and work independently in researching corporate credit for a $40+ billion credit portfolio. Research findings are shared with Senior Portfolio Managers, the Head of Research, and the CIO and are an important component of the company’s buy/sell decisions.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Credit Review and Analysis
Assess credit quality of a variety of corporate bond offerings and industries using a range of research sources including but not limited to the internet, Bloomberg, financial reports, credit rating agencies and SEC filings
Monitor and make recommendations regarding exposures to respective industries
Formally assign and rate investment grade and high yield credits
Prepare written research reports on assigned issuers or industries and present conclusions
Credit Management and Trading Recommendations
Make investment recommendations on the purchase or sale of corporate bonds to the various portfolio managers
Effectively communicate with and critically analyze comments of CEO’s, CFO’s and Investor Relations Officers at large national and international corporations
Assume responsibilities for special projects or other duties when required
Job Specifications
First year MBA student preferred
2-3 years of work experience in investments or related area preferred
Excellent communications skills, with the demonstrated ability to clearly and quickly communicate ideas and recommendations verbally and in writing
Superior Excel or other spread sheeting technology and ability to learn new software and utilize external quantitative tools that value corporate credit risk required
Strong financial research skills, producing and maintaining quantitative financial models
Excellent problem-solving skills, documentation skills and ability to work independently
Strong work ethic, attention to detail, team orientation, and commitment to excellence
Intern must be available to work 40 hours per week during regular business hours.
The internship program starts in early June 2025 and will last about 10-12 weeks.

The base salary range for applicants for this position is listed below. Unless actual salary is indicated above in the job description, actual pay will be based on skill, geographical location and experience.
Additionally, Unum offers a portfolio of benefits and rewards that are competitive and comprehensive including healthcare benefits (health, vision, dental), insurance benefits (short & long-term disability), performance-based incentive plans, paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan with an employer match up to 5% and an additional 4.5% contribution whether you contribute to the plan or not.
