Job Summary and Qualifications

The Certified Central Sterile Supervisor is responsible for proper decontamination, cleaning, assembly, sterilization and storage of instrumentation for surgery and outside departments. The lead Tech must be able to provide leadership and direction to the Central Sterile Staff.

What qualifications you will need:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required

• 3+ years of experience in Central Sterile required

• Certified Registered Central Sterile Technician through IAHCSMM or CBSPD preferred

• Leadership Certification through IAHCSMM preferred

What you will do in this role:

• Demonstrate efficiency in all areas of central sterile department including the decontamination and sterilization of instruments.

• Maintain instruments and supplies at appropriate inventory levels to meet department needs.

• Manage and understand operations and troubleshooting Central Sterile equipment.

• Participate in and demonstrate compliance with the Patient Safety Initiatives, National Patient Safety Goals (i.e. infection control, hand washing, etc.)

• Remain actively involved in Performance Improvement processes as applicable to department.

• Assure that all trays and instruments are processed following correct Instruction for Use standards.

• Comply with all policies/procedures in order to maintain a state of continual survey and regulatory readiness.

• Maintain proper documentation for sterilization, and washing records for infection control practice.

• Understand and maintain proper department temperature, humidity and air pressure parameters.

• Document biological report to IC for quarterly reviews per regulatory requirement.

• Audit a minimum of 10 trays per quarter on decontamination, washing, assembly and sterilization process instrument of trays.

• Record accurate and complete documentation of all washing, sterilization, IUSS, daily machine testing, proper testing after a repair of machine, temperature, humidity, air pressure, early release of implants, and eye wash station testing. Manage the decontamination, disinfecting, sterilization, and storage processes.

• Participate in orientation of new employees/students.

• Must be available to take call shifts as needed.

Parkridge Medical Center is a 270+ bed hospital. We are near downtown Chattanooga. We feature comprehensive diagnostic, medical, and surgical services. These services include cardiovascular surgery and cancer treatment. These services include intensive care, orthopedic and spine surgery, and rehabilitation. The facility includes a state of the art neurosurgery program. Patients also have access to OB-GYN services. Patients have access to a level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. They also have access to (NICU) and behavioral health treatment centers for children and adults.
