    Program Overview

    The Developmental Disabilities Defendant Program operates on the campus of Florida State Hospital in Chattahoochee and at Sunland in Marianna under the auspices of The State of Florida Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD). The Developmental Disabilities Defendant Program (DDDP) is dedicated to empowering persons with developmental disabilities charged with a felony crime to:

    1. Acquire the skills and support that will prepare them for success in their future environments.

    2. Acquire the skills needed to become competent to stand trial.

      Position Summary

    This is advanced professional work engaging and directing general services program for forensic institution. Supervise employees assigned to general services to include facility operations and maintenance, property/fleet management, records management and housekeeping.

    The incumbent serves as project manager for all facility operations, maintenance or construction projects. Oversees the supervision and inspection of projects funded through operating funds or fixed capital outlay. Review project proposals, classifies project funding sources and prioritizes projects for facility leadership. Assists in scope development and justification for construction and repair projects for legislative budget requests and capital improvement plans.

    Works as back up to the Administrative Services Director completing tasks in MyFloridaMarketPlace for budget approval of purchases and invoice management. Gathers data related to budget analysis preparing budgetary spreadsheets as needed at the direction of Administrative Services Director. Acts as lead for Administrative Services Unit during absence of the director.

    Directs the facility operations to ensure work orders and other maintenance related activities are addressed and resolved in a timely, efficient, cost-effective manner. Ensures improvements in residential environments consistent with fire marshal standards are continuous and on-going

    Responsible for the direction and supervision of a departmental unit for asset management to include the maintenance of accountable records under the Florida Accounting Information Resource (FLAIR) System and FleetWave.

    Reduce cost of controllable expenses and to ensure optimum customer satisfaction for DDDP/PW departments. This includes directing employees in monitoring inventory levels, communicating processes for obtaining materials, processing paperwork for payment of items and distribution of requested goods to consumer units/departments. Develops and maintains system for controlling supply inventory and property. Ensure stock levels are maintained in accordance with disaster manuals and emergency shelter needs.

    Experience in FLAIR, MFMP, People First, preferred.

    Work Hours 8:00 a.m. to - 4:30 p.m. Monday -Friday

    The position headquarters is at DDDP in Chattahoochee, Florida. Minimum of Weekly travel to DDDP-Pathways in Marianna, Florida will be required.

    The Work You Will Do

    DDDP is a forensic facility working with individuals with disabilities in a secure setting.  These individuals have been adjudicated by the courts as incompetent to proceed to trial and have significant behavioral and psychiatric issues.  DDDP provides rehabilitative, vocational, and daily living skills training to the individuals served which allows for a smooth transition back into a non-secure residential or community setting. 

    Minimum Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and two years of experience in project management, office administration, accounting, personnel, purchasing, or building construction.

  • Experience as described above can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

  • Experience in FLAIR, MFMP, People First, preferred.

  • A valid driver’s license. License suspended or revoked for any reason, work permits (Business purpose/ Employment/Education only license) and some types of restricted license are not acceptable. Licenses that have “Corrective Lenses Restricted,” are acceptable, provided the driver wears the corrective lenses while operating the vehicle.

    Background Screening Requirement

    It is the policy of the Florida Agency for Persons with Disabilities that applicants for employment undergo Level 2 employment screening in accordance with the requirements of Chapter 435, Florida Statutes, as a condition of employment or being permitted to serve as a volunteer.
