Our Community Support Services (CSS) team provides essential services that enable our clients to thrive. Whether their disability is physical, the result of brain injury, or aging, our more than 2,000 team members assist clients in their homes and across communities, to live as independently as possible.
The opportunity
We are currently looking to fill:
6 Part-Time Personal Care Attendant roles (known internally as Support Service Attendants) in our Outreach Attendant Services Program
3 Part-Time Personal Care Attendant roles in Supportive Housing Units in Chatham-Kent
Flexible Schedule: Includes mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
Starting Wage: $18.69 per hour, eligible for a $3.00 per hour temporary wage enhancement from the Ontario government for hours spent directly supporting clients
Responsibilities
Assisting consumers in their homes with non-medical daily living activities in line with individual service plans and March of Dimes Canada policies, including:
Personal care
Lifts and transfers
Rising/retiring routines
Bowel and bladder procedures
Meal preparation and feeding
Range of motion exercises
Light housekeeping duties
Performing duties professionally, respecting consumer dignity and privacy, and ensuring health and safety for both consumers and staff
Shifts:
March of Dimes Canada provides 24-hour attendant care. Support Service Attendants work various shifts (weekdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays) that may differ by location.
Qualifications and experience
Education: High school graduate or equivalent
Certification: Current Standard First Aid and CPR, or willingness to obtain
Experience: Experience with individuals with physical disabilities, older adults, or informal caregiving (an asset, but not required)
Skills: Good interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
Physical Requirements: Physical Demands Self Analysis required upon hire
Additional Requirements: Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required
Availability: Ability to work flexible and regularly scheduled hours
