University of Virginia Sterile Processing Coordinator in Charlottesville, Virginia

Performs a variety of administrative functions for the Sterile Processing department. Coordinates purchasing inventory for Operating Room. Work often requires detailed knowledge of area specific knowledge of the interdepartmental needs between SPD and the OR environment and the application and interpretation of organizational and departmental policies and procedures. Responsibilities include but not limited to customer service replenishing stock par-level management receiving conducting cycle counts running specific inventory reports and analyzing data. Responsible for reconciling discrepancies explaining/solving inventory variances and processing special order requests.

  • Coordinates the supply inventory of OR instruments, implants, or supplies within Sterile Processing.

  • Works with vendors to ensure the procurement of high-quality merchandise expedient delivery and dependable service at optimum price.

  • Handles purchasing personnel and special projects.

  • Coordinates work unit quality assurance program.

  • Develops and maintains effective professional practices and procedures.

  • Performs area-specific support activities.

  • Reviews stock levels in the department to ensure stock availability.

  • Verifies and inspects incoming supplies for discrepancies and visible damage.

  • Performs cycle counting and resolves inventory discrepancies.

  • In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

Position Compensation Range: $21.52 - $33.36 Hourly

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent

Experience: 1 year relevant experience in purchasing/inventory management preferred.

Licensure: None required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Job requires sitting for prolonged periods. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 50 – 100lbs. May be exposed to vibrations, humidity, cold, heat, noise, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
