University of Virginia Occupational Health Clinic Nurse Manager-Compliance, Safety, Wellness in Charlottesville, Virginia

The Clinical Manager for Compliance, Safety and Wellness for UVA Health Occupational Health is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing the operational and clinical aspects related to compliance, safety, and employee wellness. This role requires a dynamic individual who possesses a strong background in healthcare/OSHA compliance, safety protocols, and employee wellness initiatives. The manager will collaborate with clinical staff, administrative personnel, and external partners to ensure adherence to regulatory standards, prioritizes the safety of employees and promotes a culture of wellness.

  • Monitors for adherence to local, state, federal, and OSHA regulations, as well as industry standards, related to healthcare employee/occupational health operations and safety

  • Develops, updates, and implements policies and procedures to maintain compliance with relevant employee health/occupational health regulations and standards

  • Develops and maintains safety protocols and guidelines, ensuring a safe environment for team members

  • Collaborates with applicable subject matter experts and stakeholders to develop strategies for preventing workplace injuries and managing occupational health issues

  • Analyzes data and metrics to assess the effectiveness of safety measures and compliance initiatives and propose enhancements as needed

  • Provides oversight to Workers’ Compensation program

  • Manages RNs, paraprofessional staff, and administrative staff

  • Manages team member post-exposure (BBF and ID) response programs

  • Provides personnel and programmatic oversight of team member injury prevention programs, such as safe patient handling, ergonomics, sharps injury, etc.

  • Designs, implements, and oversees wellness programs aimed at injury reduction of employees

  • Engages with external partners, regulatory agencies, and industry organizations to stay current on best practices and regulatory changes

  • Builds and maintains strong interdisciplinary relationships through influence, communication, collaboration, and shared decision-making and understands components of culture competence as applicable to the healthcare workforce

  • Monitors and promotes workplace safety requirements and maintains survey and regulatory readiness

  • Practices ethical behavior and supports clinical standards and scopes of practice

  • Maintains clinical competency to provide patient care as needed

  • Assumes responsibility for own professional growth and development

  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Position Compensation Range: $104,062.40 - $138,819.20 Annual

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing from accredited nursing program. Master's degree in related field within 5 years of hire.

Experience: 3+ years of progressively more responsible experience as a registered nurse in a patient care environment required, preferably in a leadership role. Occupational health experienced preferred in areas of developing and applying safety and occupational health regulations and assessing for compliance with established occupational health standards. Knowledge of OSHA regulations, ergonomics, injury prevention. Ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders and customers in order to meet the program goals and objectives. Ability to evaluate the effectiveness of existing methods and procedures. Ability to handle multiple priorities at once with minimal supervision. Ability to strategize, plan, organize, and execute to meet set goals.

Licensure: License to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia required. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required. Valid Virginia Driver’s license required for managers with responsibility operations in multiple locations. Must have applicable specialty certification at hire or within 3 years.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
