University of Virginia HIT Project Management Specialist, Senior in Charlottesville, Virginia
The HIT (Health Information & Technology) Project Management Specialist, Sr. oversees small-to-extra-large sized, technology projects and enterprise programs. They assemble project teams, assign individual responsibilities, develop project schedules and determine resources needed, as well as coordinate other PMs in a program setting. They are familiar with the entire scope and requirements of the project/program and serve as liaison between HIT and the functional area management and executives. Recognized as technical project management resource within the Medical Center with skills in performing highly-complex, longer-term, strategically-significant assignments, they are generally given significant latitude to devise the approach and method to performing assignments. Coordinates and works in partnership with the UVA Program Management Office (PMO) to follow UVA standards for project work. Their assignments are typically multi-faceted and may be cross-discipline, requiring significant coordination and planning. They work under general supervision, seeking assistance when significant deviations are proposed, or when unprecedented problems arise. They serve as a resource, and provide guidance to HIT Leadership on complex problems, work processes, and policies. They provide input on project staffing/hiring decisions and project-related performance, though they do not have supervisory responsibilities over team members. Their interactions are generally with HIT leaders/team members, Medical Center leaders/team members, and external vendors and service providers.
Experience managing all aspects of the planning, development and implementation of assigned projects as a single point of contact for those efforts.
Adept at defining project scope, objectives and success indicators, and managing projects from original concept through final implementation.
Acts as program manager as needed when multiple, interconnected projects rely on coordination between project managers
Ability to develop detailed work plans, schedules, projected estimates, resource plans, and status reports and ensure adherence to quality standards, review of project deliverables, and project tracking and analysis.
Assures alignment of technology with operational requirements and maintain operational engagement and oversight throughout project.
Develops policies and mandates to support the project and manage risk, based on understanding of organizational strategy and goals.
Accountable for adherence to Budget, Schedule and Scope of project.
Manages the integration of vendor tasks and track and review vendor deliverables.
Provides leadership, technical and analytical guidance to project team and recommend and take action to direct the analysis and solutions of the problem.
Collects, analyzes and summarizes information and trends as needed to prepare detailed project status/capacity reports.
In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
Position Compensation Range: $93,142.40 - $149,032.00 Annual
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, Computer Engineering or related discipline
Experience: At least eight years of experience. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
Licensure: PMP preferred and required within 4 years of hire.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
