University of Virginia Assistant Manager, Clinical Social Work (LCSW) - Inpatient in Charlottesville, Virginia

A transformational leader responsible for supporting the Clinical Social Work Manager in administrative duties and providing first line supervision of Social Work staff. The Assistant Manager, Clinical Social Work will provide leadership by collaborating with members of the health care team to maintain standards for professional Social Work practice in the clinical setting. Participates in organizational and department based quality improvement activities, and provide input on standards of care. Must provide patient care on an as needed basis and maintain clinical competencies with the potential for daily patient care shift assignments. Collaborates with all team members to maximize discharge planning and patient progression. May supervise bachelors

and masters level students and acts as a liaison to the community through public speaking. Participates in clinical training and clinical supervision of MSW staff.

Supervises care provided by maintaining high visibility to patients/families and staff in the clinical area(s).

Staff management to include recruitment, retention, coaching, training, evaluation and development, as well as preparation and delegation of work schedules and workflow.

Under supervision from manager, participates in basic human resource functions.

Supervise bachelors and masters level social work students

Provides clinical training and clinical supervision to MSW staff

Provides direct social work service to patients and families and/or groups of patients by providing support and intervention with psycho-social-emotional problems.

Maintains acceptable working knowledge of resources needed to provide patients with continuity of care before and after discharge.

Provides effective leadership to team/ work group.

Models effective communication and collaboration skills / behaviors.

Provides input on development revision and implementation of work area policies and procedures to ensure efficient operations and compliance with regulatory standards.

Shares accountability with manager for department/organizational goal achievement including patient experience, team member engagement and continuous process improvement.

Develops talent and coaches peers and others to develop their capabilities.

Applies knowledge of functional area to effectively manage operations.

Holds staff accountable for meeting external and/or internal customer needs.

Participates in in-service and staff development activities by attendance serving on planning committees and/or offering topics for pertinent educational programs.

Documents all activities relevant to casework discharge planning and follow-up in accordance with UVA and Social Work Policy Procedure and Guidelines and regulatory requirements.

Acts as liaison between the hospital and outside agencies/legal authorities and referral sources.

In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

Position Compensation Range: $76,398.40 - $122,241.60 Annual

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: Master's degree in Social Work from a CSWE accredited social work program required.

Experience: 5 years of relevant experience

Licensure: Licensed to practice as a Social Worker in the Commonwealth of Virginia (LCSW).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs. May

be exposed to chemicals, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
