University of Virginia ACPE-CE, Clinical Pastoral Education in Charlottesville, Virginia

The ACPE Educator is an integral team member in the Department of Chaplaincy Services and Pastoral Education. The Educator participates in all aspects of the department scope of service including, but not limited to: CPE programming and instruction; provision of spiritual care to patients, families, and staff; professional and interprofessional education.

• In collaboration with Chaplaincy department leadership, other department ACPE faculty, and the Professional Advisory Group, the Educator is responsible for all aspects of the CPE program including, but not limited to: student education and supervision; curriculum development and implementation; student recruiting and selection; ACPE accreditation and certification standards.

• Responsible for providing spiritual care to patients, families, visitors, staff, medical and nursing students, and community clergy.

• Participation in professional and interprofessional education in the department, medical center, school of medicine, school of nursing, and other parts of the health system.

• Provides and support to the mission, vision, and values of the department and UVA Health

• In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

Position Compensation Range: $73,444.80 - $117,520.00 Annual

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: Master of Divinity degree or equivalent educational qualifications as evidenced by a graduate-level theological degree from a college, university or theological school accredited by a member of the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or Association of Theological Schools (ATS) and recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Successful completion of a Certified Educator Candidate program accredited by the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education. Additional graduate level work in a related field preferred.

Experience: One year as an ACPE-CE and one year of full-time chaplaincy experience after completion of at least four units of CPE required. Will consider CEC experience. Three years ACPE-CE or National Faculty preferred. 3-5 years of full-time clinical chaplaincy experience after completion of at least four units of CPE preferred.

Licensure:

Required:

• ACPE Certified Educator (will consider Phase II CEC).

• ACPE National Faculty Eligible. Must achieve National Faculty status within three (3) years of hire date.

• Fully recognized spiritual care leader in a specific faith tradition through ordination or equivalent.

• Endorsement from a specific faith tradition to practice in a specialized setting such as a hospital.

• Full board certification (BCC) by The Association of Professional Chaplains (APC), The National Association of Catholic Chaplains (NACC), or Neshama the Association of Jewish Chaplains (NAJC). If BCC eligible, certification must be completed with two (2) years of hire date.

Preferred: ACPE National Faculty

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Job requires frequently traveling (distance: 500 yards). Ability to lift/push/pull < 20lbs. May be exposed to blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
