Utilities Service, LLC Transmission General Foreman - ULCS Region 101 in Charlotte, North Carolina

We are currently seeking an experienced General Foreperson to join our Utility Lines Construction Services, Inc. team in the Transmission Construction Department.

Essential Functions:

  • Primary Function is supervising multiple projects to ensure that project milestones are met.

  • Leadership that promotes Safety, Quality and Productivity to maintain good customer relationships.

  • Supervising and scheduling of multiple crews to ensure proper administration of training, disciplinary action, work production, adherence to safety practices and interpretation of polices.

  • Managing multiple crews that consist of 5 to 10 employees on each crew.

  • Responsible for the safety of the crews you manage

  • Work with our Safety department identifying the potential hazards associated with the job and the mitigation plan for these risks.

  • Ability to hold outage clearances from our clients for the systems you are working on.

  • Provide daily communication with the client’s representatives as well as field supervision and office management.

  • Hot stick work and/or Distribution experience is considered a plus.

  • Our crews work on various structure types of transmission lines at voltages from 69kV to 500kV.

  • Receives and interprets orders by the supervisor and the coordinator of utilities.

  • Participates in company training of all regional safety guidelines and is required to perform all work by the regional safety policies.

  • Enforces safety practices and obtains permission from property owners to perform work.

  • Responsible for the maintenance and accuracy of records.

  • Assists with accident reports and incident investigations.

  • Responsible for job cost controls and reports.

  • Responsible for inspections, proper working conditions and necessary repairs to tools and equipment.

  • Assists with field training to crew members on new equipment.

  • Directs emergency situations.

  • Confers with customers, property owners, general public, other contractors and representatives of utilities and governmental agencies.

  • Meets with Supervisors, Utility Coordinator, Safety Representatives and others.

  • Works around hazardous equipment.

  • Works in all temperatures and will be exposed to nature i.e., irritating plants and biting or stinging insects.

  • Exposed to traffic.

  • Works around excessive noise from machines, jackhammers, chain saws and other equipment with proper hearing protection.

  • Works at varying heights above ground, in manholes in confined spaces and in excavations.

  • Work nights, weekends and holidays for extended periods; may be required to perform duties as part of recovery force during emergencies and disasters.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum of 15 years’ experience in all types of Electrical Transmission Line Construction.

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a General Foreperson.

  • Must have hands on experience working with voltages of 230kV or higher.

  • Must be able to perform hands on management of many types of maintenance and new construction activities.

  • Must be proficient in all phases of Transmission line work, including the installation and maintenance of wood poles, H-frames, steel poles, lattice towers, and concrete poles.

  • Must be experienced in wire stringing operations, wire sagging methods, assembly and installation of the many different types of hardware assemblies and fiber optic installations.

  • Must have endurance necessary to perform these duties throughout a standard eight (8) or ten (10) hour day according to the schedule.

  • Must be able to visualize the job build.

  • Must be able to identify the hazards on the job.

  • Must have cognition to solve problems.

  • Must have computer skills in order to maintain spreadsheets for reporting.

  • Must be able to wear PPE as necessary.

  • Must be able to maintain attention during dangerous tasks.

  • Must have a valid license.

  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen

  • Must pass a background check and pass a motor vehicle records check.

  • Must be able to pass a DOT physical in order to obtain a DOT medical card.
