Description

Overview: As a System Administrator, you will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing the organization's IT systems and infrastructure. This includes servers, storage, networking devices, and software applications. Your role will involve ensuring system reliability, security, and performance, as well as providing technical support to end-users and collaborating with other IT teams to support business operations and strategic initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • System Installation and Configuration: Install, configure, and maintain operating systems, servers, storage, and related infrastructure. Ensure systems are properly configured and integrated to meet business requirements and performance objectives.

  • System Maintenance and Upgrades: Perform regular maintenance, updates, and patch management to ensure systems are up-to-date and secure. Plan and execute system upgrades and migrations with minimal disruption to business operations.

  • Security Management: Implement and enforce security policies, access controls, and encryption protocols to protect IT systems and data from unauthorized access, cyber threats, and data breaches. Conduct security assessments and vulnerability scans to identify and mitigate risks.

  • Monitoring and Performance Optimization: Monitor system performance, resource utilization, and availability metrics using monitoring tools and performance tuning techniques. Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, capacity constraints, and system vulnerabilities.

  • Backup and Disaster Recovery: Develop and implement backup and disaster recovery plans for critical systems and data. Configure automated backup schedules, data replication, and failover mechanisms to ensure business continuity and data resilience.

  • Troubleshooting and Support: Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to end-users and other IT teams. Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues in a timely manner, and document solutions for future reference.

  • Documentation and Change Management: Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, procedures, and operational processes. Follow change management procedures to plan, test, and implement system changes in a controlled manner to minimize disruptions and risks.

  • Automation and Scripting: Develop and maintain automation scripts and tools to streamline system administration tasks and improve operational efficiency. Utilize scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) to automate repetitive tasks and manage configurations.

  • User Training and Communication: Provide training and guidance to end-users and IT staff on system usage, best practices, and security protocols. Communicate effectively with stakeholders to ensure a clear understanding of system capabilities and limitations.

    Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; relevant industry certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator, CompTIA Server+, Red Hat Certified System Administrator) are highly desirable.

  • Proven experience as a System Administrator or in a similar IT role, with hands-on experience managing enterprise-scale IT systems and infrastructure.

  • Strong knowledge of server hardware, operating systems (e.g., Windows, Linux, Unix), virtualization technologies, and network protocols.

  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
