Hartford Fire Insurance Company in Charlotte, NC, has the following opening for a Staff Software Engineer.

Summary of Duties: Responsible for End to End solution (designing, building and maintenance of the assets) involving multiple platforms and business solutions using Java, Spring, Spring Boot, Spring integrations, JPA, and AWS. Provide technical leadership in Scrum Teams by enforcing the vision of the application architecture and safeguard the integrity of the application environment, in alliance with architects and other tech leads. Understand and implement the overall technical vision for projects, programs, or systems, keeping in mind cross-functional impacts, integration across the organization and architecture rationalization. Proactively address technical issues and risks that could impact schedule and/or budget. Mentor team members (including Sourcing Partners) to enforce development guidelines and best practices. Work closely with stakeholders to design and document automation solutions that align with the business needs and also consistent with the architectural vision. Build and implement capabilities for continuous integration and continuous delivery aligned with Enterprise DevOps practices. Accountable for Software engineering practices e.g. Source code management, branching, issue tracking etc., followed for the product. Ability to understand technology trade off risks and rewards for the best customer value delivery. Position supervises work of 2 employees with titles: Staff Software Engineer and Software Development. Hybrid Work From Home, minimum 2 days in office per week. Reporting to Charlotte, NC office.

Qualifications: Position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics or related, plus 4 years of experience in any occupation in which the required experience was gained. Position requires 4 years of experience in each of the following: Java, PL/SQL, C, C++, R, Scala to build an interface; ETL Tools (such as IBM Info Sphere Streams 3.2.1, IBM Big Insights, Talend); Big Data tools such as Hadoop, Spark, Hive, Scoop, Impala, Hbase to provide big data development; AWS, GCP or Azure to deliver software to cloud; Design, build and test a code to deliver business needs using IDE like IntelliJ.

Salary Range: $149,469.00 - $ 172,080 per YEAR

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
