Sr Data Scientist

The Sr Data Scientist will be a key member of the centralized analytics function at the bank and serve as a leader in the quantitative modeling & data science initiatives. This role will be responsible for shaping the vision & executing towards advanced analytics processes for the bank. They will be responsible for data mining, quantitative model development and machine learning initiatives that help provide key insights and create efficiencies. This role will be integral in driving business outcomes through use of big data & advanced modeling capabilities. The ideal candidate for this role will be able to effectively communicate complex analytical topics translated into business impact terms to non-technical audiences across all levels of seniority.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Partners with IT and Chief Data Officer to frame out ‘big data’ strategy for bank and the approach the bank leverages to manage large data sets & connectivity.

  • Provides mentorship & guidance to more junior members of quantitative modeling & data science team within centralized analytics function.

  • Leverages advanced predictive modeling and machine learning techniques to drive value out of structured & unstructured data sets.

  • Significant focus in elements of modeling consumer behavior, complaints themes, deposit pricing/elasticity and support marketing objectives through classification techniques.

  • Develops processes to monitor model performance and create strong model governance practices in line with MRM policy and procedures.

  • Appropriately assesses and highlights inherent risks within modeling approaches when leveraged for business decisions.

  • Drives ideas for mitigating model limitations and risks within business engagement.

  • Prepares and presents data insights & key modeling output to senior leadership and business heads.

Educational Requirements

  • University (Degree) Preferred

This position is Hybrid. Hybrid work is a minimum of four days working on-site with one flexible day to work remotely.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of recent experience leading large scale projects on advanced analytics (machine learning, large language models, AI, etc.)

  • Python R, Matlab, Data-Brick experience a plus.

  • Experience developing processes to monitor model performance and create strong model governance practices.
