Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for assessment of Regional Utility Plant ( RUP ) conditions and performing proper resolution methods.

  2. Assist Advanced level technicians in the repair and installation of RUP systems, focusing on chillers and cooling towers.

  3. Responsible for performing routine maintenance to ensure that RUP systems continue to run smoothly, systems operate efficiently, and/or the physical condition of RUP components does not deteriorate.

  4. Use electrical test devices to troubleshoot control circuits.

  5. Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs as necessary.

Minimum Experience / Education:

Required Minimum Qualifications:

Graduation from high school or equivalent. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position’s role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

University Preferred Qualifications:

Graduation from high school or equivalent and two years experience. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position’s role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Education Skills and Experience:

  1. Graduation from high school or equivalent and two years experience. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position’s role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

  2. 2-4 years experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC and refrigeration equipment specializing in chillers/cooling towers preferred.

3.. E.P.A. 608 Refrigerant certification preferred ( able to obtain within the first year of employment)

  1. Ability to effectively communicate the English language (reading, writing, interpretation, and comprehension) required.

  2. Effective skills in verbal, written, and interpersonal communication.

  3. Computer literate.

  4. Knowledge and skill with Google Chrome, Microsoft Word, and Excel, and willingness to learn new programs.

  5. Ability to effectively work/interact with persons from different backgrounds and cultures.

  6. Ability to foster and create an atmosphere of teamwork.

  7. The selected candidate must have the mental and physical capabilities to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
