Principal Project Controls

The Principal PCS is a critical lead position of the project controls team as well as a member of multiple project or program teams. This position supports Project Managers and Project Directors on projects and programs of varying size and complexity. This position will be expected to lead / direct the set up and reviews of the project controls status (cost, contract, WBS, schedule, resource, etc.).

Using prescribed methods and tools, the position is responsible for performing primary aspects of project control assignments. The position is considered a technical, SME, lead or support position and requires college level reasoning via formal education or work experience. It requires understanding and application of advanced project controls principles. This position must be proficient with various computer applications with analytics that relate to schedule, cost, and risk. This position requires highly proficient to expert use, understanding and application of project controls principles and associated project controls software tools.

This is a Critical lead level position to support development work related to New Generation Program/Mega projects. This position will support each member of PMC major projects team. This position will be expected to lead / direct the set up and reviews of the project controls status (estimate, cost, contract, WBS, schedule, resource, changes etc.). This position requires lead level experience with complex engineering, procurement, and construction projects.

Hydro Pump Storage and Major projects (CC and CTs) construction experience preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Under general supervision, the position is responsible gathering, establishing, maintaining cost details, integrating with other site work activities that either impacts or are impacted by the new projects.

  • This position will maintain and update all cost management work for the assigned projects. These updates may be obtained from the vendor submittals, field walk downs, manual updates provided by on-site / responsible vendor representatives, or direct communication with the Field schedulers, GM/PD/PM assigned to monitor and control the work.

  • Work with Project teams under general guidance or lead as required to update all field work in the integrated schedule

  • Understand phased Project Funding, assist or may manage roll up of estimate into cost reports and manage cost systems as needed

  • Estimate & assist in management of monthly accruals

  • Familiar with Maximo, P6, high proficiency in MS. Excel

  • Maintenance of - Cost and Budgets for “ALL” site projects

  • Review and assist change management

  • Generate monthly reports, project documentation

  • Work with PM/ PD for site specific reporting

  • Work with Scheduler for impact analysis & critical path

  • May be required to work on multiple projects or program

Basic / Required Qualifications:

Principal Project Controls Specialist

  • Bachelor’s in Engineering, Project Management, Finance or Business Administration and 7 years of work-related experience OR High school diploma / Equivalent and 11 years of work-related experience.

  • Experience with large civil tunneling projects, and or large hydro generation projects or

Desired Qualifications:

  • ECOSYS administration configuration and management

  • Experience in creation of training packages and training teams on ECOSYS

  • Lead WEB BI and POWER BI data migration

  • Familiar with LoadSpring application

  • Master’s degree in Project Management, Finance or Business Administration

  • Certified Associate of Project Management

  • Project Management Professional

  • AACE-EVP, AACE-CEP, AACE-PSP, AACE-CCC, PMI-SP certification

  • Proficiency/expertise with project management, project controls concepts, computer applications / analytics

  • Strong collaborative team member

  • Software such as MS Project/MS Office Suite, Primavera, Accumen fuse, Business Objects, Prolog, Passport, Visio, Powerplant, Emax, Peoplesoft
