Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO&I) is the team behind the cloud. Within CO&I, the Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) team is responsible for delivering core datacenter infrastructure for Microsoft’s cloud business. The MS portfolio consists of complex, multi-disciplinary, large scale, multi-year datacenter construction and lease projects. The Data Center Development (DCD) Mechanical Electrical Plumbing (MEP) Construction Superintendent role will provide leadership of all field related Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing (MEP) system mission critical activities and coordinate with DCD Construction Project Manager (CPM), Consultants, OFCI Vendors, General Contractors, Subcontractors and other project stakeholders for proper execution.
This role is based in Charlotte, NC. Relocation support is available, and successful candidates are required to either reside within or relocate to within 50 miles of the designated hub office.
This role is eligible for onsite only (100%) [within 50 miles from Charlotte, NC].

Responsibilities
Lead and manage all field-related MEP activities, ensuring coordination with DCD Construction Project Manager, consultants, vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders for successful project execution, including commissioning.
Ensure project compliance with Data Center Development (DCD) guidelines, safety standards, and industry best practices, advocating for safety and risk management in all construction activities.
Oversee the implementation of safety protocols, conducting safety audits, incident investigations, and ensuring adherence to OSHA or equivalent standards to maintain a safe working environment.
Ensure all MEP works meet quality standards, review vendor and subcontractor work for compliance with project specifications, and implement Quality Management Plans, including regular audits and lessons learned.
Manage project planning, scheduling, and coordination for efficient MEP scope delivery, overseeing progress, mitigating delays, and providing weekly updates to ensure timely project completion.
Provide technical oversight on MEP system designs, identifying risks, offering solutions, and ensuring alignment with organizational standards while collaborating with internal and external teams.
Monitor and control MEP project costs, manage vendor performance, ensure contract compliance, and oversee cost-efficient solutions, while ensuring compliance with local regulations and Microsoft’s security and confidentiality standards.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Construction Project Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field AND 5+ years related experience
OR equivalent experience.
Other Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Construction Project Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field AND 8+ years related experience
OR equivalent experience.
7+ years experience working on data center projects.
Construction Management, Planning, Processes and Risk experience.
Scope Management, Vendor Selection, Evaluation, Management, Construction Health & Safety Knowledge
Experience managing multiple large multi-faceted projects
Detailed understanding of Mechanical and Electrical systems to include integrated testing, Method of Procedure (MOPs)/ SOPs of installation, functionality and troubleshooting.
Knowledge of ISO accredited Safety and Quality Management Systems
Construction Project Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $94,600 - $183,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $122,000 - $200,500 per year.
