Hiring for a Maintenance Electrician

Pay: 35+/hr

Job Description

As a Maintenance Electrician at our steel mill, you will be responsible for a wide range of maintenance repairs and troubleshooting tasks. You will work with various systems and equipment, including control panels, conveyor systems, pumps, sensors, relays, circuits, and mixing equipment. You will also diagnose and maintain the furnace and accessory equipment for forging metal, perform major electrical troubleshooting, and assist with minor fabrication tasks. This role requires close collaboration with the engineering team on up fitting projects and adherence to all safety procedures and protocols to maintain a safe and productive environment.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot control panels, conveyor systems, pumps, sensors, relays, circuits, and mixing equipment.

  • Diagnose and maintain the furnace and accessory equipment for forging metal.

  • Perform major electrical troubleshooting, including diagnosing faults with a multimeter, reading schematics, and hooking up motors.

  • Conduct fault analysis of circuits, install sensors, and PLC cabinets.

  • Assist with minor fabrication of equipment, including tack welding of small parts to support mechanics.

  • Collaborate with the engineering team on up fitting projects.

  • Troubleshoot PLC systems and sensory equipment.

  • Follow all safety procedures and protocols to ensure a safe and productive environment.

Essential Skills

  • Expertise in electrical troubleshooting and wiring schematics.

  • Experience with automation and Allen Bradley PLC systems.

  • Proficiency in diagnosing issues using blueprints and schematics.

  • Skilled in working with hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, valves, motors, control panels, sensors, and relays.

  • Ability to perform preventive maintenance and repairs.

  • Knowledge of Siemens PLC systems.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Any secondary schooling is beneficial but not required.

  • Individuals with a strong work history or those with a mechatronics degree have performed well in this role.

Work Environment

This position is based in a steel mill that processes recycled material into various building materials for the construction industry. The facility consists of large hangar-style buildings that are not climate-controlled, resulting in a temperate environment in the winter and hot conditions in the summer due to the foundry operations.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $79040.00 - $95000.00/yr.
