Senior leader accountable for building and maintaining on-prem data platforms, ensuring capabilities are stable, scalable, align to business requirements, and are controlled per Truist technology standards. Leaders at this level will manage multiple platforms that are functionally aligned (e.g., business intelligence and reporting tools, data movement and storage, document and content management, AI and model management etc.). This role will function as a Senior Talend Platform and Data Pipelines Engineer to elevate our data integration and management capabilities. Understands data movement and authorized data stores while having the ability to drive business intelligence and operational excellence across all lines of business and their core functions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Design, build and execute Data and Analytics strategies for data pipelines and ETL processes using Talend platform.

  2. Responsible for development and maintenance of one or more data platforms and tools, for safe and deliberate consumption throughout the organization.

  3. Accountable for managing multiple platform teams comprising of globally distributed full time platform engineers, platform leads and contract resources.

  4. Works closely with senior leaders within Enterprise Technology.

  5. Accountable for managing the multiple functions below along with platform teams comprising of globally distributed full time platform engineers, platform leads and contract resources.

· Data Management: Ensure effective data ingestion, transformation, and loading processes to support analytics, business intelligence and AI/ML use cases.

· Optimization and Re-Engineering: Re-Platform and Optimize existing data pipelines and workflows for performance, robustness, and scalability.

· Collaboration: Work closely with data analysts, data scientists, business stakeholders, and other engineering teams to understand requirements and deliver data solutions.

· Support: Provide L3 operational support for data pipelines, including monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.

· Documentation: Create comprehensive documentation of data processes, pipelines, and architectures.

· Mentoring: Train and mentor junior engineers on data engineering best practices and Talend usage.

  1. In an Agile environment, may serve as the "IT Leader."

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor Degree and six years of experience managing complex IT projects or equivalent education and related training or experience

  2. Demonstrated experience in project management/delivery teams

  3. Ability to interpret internal and external business challenges and implement best practices to improve products, processes, or services

  4. Knowledge of technology structures that incorporate variable staffing evolving platforms, cost and value arbitrage value propositions. Knowledge of business process reengineering and operations

  5. Broad view of how industry and technology changes impact technology and client experience through digital channels. Strong business acumen and domain expertise in the assigned portfolio. Ability to lead projects of significant complexity and risk exposure

  6. Ability to exercise judgment in solving technical, operational, and organizational challenges in the context of business objectives and priorities. Ability to influence and negotiate to enable agreement on scope, cost, and schedules

  7. Ability to manage a team, including identifying and recruiting talent, managing performance, and making decisions about resource allocation

  8. Strong understanding of Data lifecycle management

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, Information Systems or equivalent degree

  2. Talend Data Integration certification.

  3. Experience with real-time data processing and streaming technologies (Kafka, Kinesis).

  4. Knowledge of advanced analytics and machine learning integration.

  5. Experience with Talend Data Integration Platform.

  6. Strong SQL skills and experience with relational databases.

  7. Proficient in data modeling, data warehousing, and ETL processes.

  8. Experience with cloud platforms (AWS), big data technologies (Hadoop, Spark) and Snowflake platform.

  9. Familiarity with various data storage systems (e.g., NoSQL databases, data lakes).

  10. Understanding of data governance, data quality, and data security practices.

  11. Experience implementing integrations with Data management tools (Alation, Manta) and DQ tool (Ataccama) is a plus.

  12. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  13. Strong communication and collaboration skills.

  14. Ability to work in a fast-paced, agile environment.
