Job Title: Technician II

Job Description

We are looking for a skilled Technician II to join our team. As a machining center provider, we specialize in creating prototypes of milling, mill-turn, CNC machines, and automation machines. Our projects span a wide range of industries including automotive, medical technology, aerospace, precision technology, tool manufacturing, and mechanical engineering applications. This role involves working on new customizations for various machines, providing a dynamic and non-repetitive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all work in a manufacturing/machine shop environment in compliance with OSHA General Industry Safety Guidelines and company-specific safety policies.

  • Work with single-phase and three-phase power and control systems from 100 to 480 Volts AC and 5 to 800 Volts DC.

  • Operate various measuring, diagnostic, and testing instruments to troubleshoot, install, and repair equipment.

  • Perform tasks and install components to specifications in accordance with mechanical assembly prints, electrical, and other system schematics.

  • Operate a variety of equipment such as hand tools, laptop computers, and diagnostic hardware.

  • Work with automation systems including PLC, motors, and drives.

  • Apply parts and components correctly to the machine build using the bill of materials.

  • Update drawings and provide feedback/solutions when issues are found during electrical installations or rebuilds.

  • Provide installation of components, wiring, plumbing, and labeling for CNC machine rebuilds and/or retrofits.

  • Troubleshoot all machine technical issues and provide feedback to the appropriate departments.

  • Operate Fanuc and Siemens CNC controls to perform system checks.

  • Interface with all departments as necessary to ensure good communication throughout the project.

  • Perform safe electrical rebuilds of CNC machines, including the installation, setup, testing, and troubleshooting of electrical options on new and used CNC equipment.

  • Safely rig equipment and operate forklifts and overhead crane systems.

  • Effectively prioritize work assignments and demonstrate good time management.

  • Mentor and cross-train other teammates as needed.

  • Work overtime and weekends as required.

  • Minimal travel required both domestic and international.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

  • Experience with control systems, schematic reading, pneumatic systems, and handling voltages up to 600V AC and 700V DC.

  • Proficiency in reading blueprints, schematics, and electrical diagrams.

  • CNC machine experience including Fanuc and Siemens controls.

  • Ability to read ladder logic and troubleshoot electrical systems.

  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.

  • Experience with installation, wiring, and low voltage systems.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Self-motivated, customer-oriented, and a team player.

  • Experience with Fanuc and Siemens controls and the ability to read machine ladders and troubleshoot issues.

  • Ability to set keep relays and parameter settings for different machine options.

  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication, organization, and time management skills.

  • Leadership and mentoring skills for developing team members.

  • Proficiency in using multi-meters, amp probes, and phase detectors in an industrial setting.

  • Understanding of LO/TO safety requirements, OSHA standards, and NFPA 70 E code.

  • Ability to engage and function with the workforce to maintain consistent performance on projects.

  • Adaptability to changing environments.

  • High School Diploma required.

  • Trade school, journeyman, or military certification in electronics preferred.

  • Minimum of 5 years of electrical experience in a highly diverse environment.

  • Experience in the machine tool industry or other metal-cutting industry preferred.

  • Experience with operating CNC controls, Fanuc, and/or Siemens preferred.

Work Environment

The hours for this position are 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM, Monday to Friday, with overtime as needed. Work in a large, clean, climate-controlled facility. Candidates will either work on the new assembly line of machinery or the rebuild line.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $61360.00 - $68640.00/yr.
