Position Overview

We are seeking a Credit and Collections Associate to join our Finance team at our Charlotte, NC headquarters. This hybrid role combines weekly in-office and remote work. The ideal candidate will bring strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and analytical thinking. A passion for using data to identify trends, reduce risk, and drive decision-making will ensure success in this role.

Key Responsibilities

• Credit Evaluation & Account Setup

• Assess new customer accounts by reviewing Dun & Bradstreet reports, financial statements, and trade/bank references.

• Set credit limits based on risk assessments and company policies.

• Create and manage new customer accounts within the ERP system.

• Manage a portfolio of customer accounts, performing creditworthiness analysis, order processing, and collection activities for past-due accounts.

• Adjust credit limits and terms for established customers to align with company policies.

• Monitor ongoing accounts to ensure terms are appropriate and address any discrepancies.

• Collaborate with Customer Service and Sales Representatives to resolve disputes, short payments, and other issues delaying payments.

• Coordinate with AR specialists to ensure proper application of payments and perform account reconciliations as needed.

• Respond to inquiries on past-due accounts, research account details, and provide customers with status updates.

• Identify payment trends and conduct root cause analysis to address recurring issues.

• Implement improvements to streamline collections and encourage prompt payment.

• Regularly update customer files to maintain data accuracy and ensure compliance with credit department policies.

• Work closely with the Credit Manager and team members on daily tasks and special projects.

• Provide support to Treasury/Finance Operations, including ad hoc analysis, receivables reporting, and audit requests.

• Develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure seamless operations.

Qualifications

• Experience & Skills

• 3-5 years of experience in commercial credit and collections, ideally in manufacturing, construction, or building products.

• Strong negotiation and communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Solid understanding of credit functions, including financial statement analysis, credit limit management, and GAAP.

• Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred) and familiarity with Dun & Bradstreet Finance Analytics.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUPs).

• Skilled in financial analysis and data-driven decision-making.

Preferred Qualifications

• NACM Designation.

• Experience in the manufacturing, construction, or building products industries.

• Bilingual in Spanish is a plus
