Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Teach, advise, supervise, and mentor students in the MA and PhD counseling programs, particularly students with a clinical mental health focus
Actively contribute to the continuous development and assessment of the overall clinical mental health program
Actively engage in research and other scholarly activities in counselor education
Seek externally funded research grants
Serve on and direct dissertation committees
Provide service, outreach, engagement, and leadership in the Department, College, and University
Minimum Experience / Education:
UNC Charlotte gives primary consideration to the earned doctorate or terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline.
Preferred Education Skills and Experience:
An earned doctorate in Counselor Education from a CACREP -accredited university
Ability to contribute to the CACREP core and clinical mental health counseling specialty
Eligibility for licensure in North Carolina as a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and experience as a clinical mental health counselor
Experience working with a variety of client populations
Demonstrates promise of excellent teaching, sustainable research, and service/ outreach/engagement
Promise of obtaining external grant funding to support one’s research
Involvement in professional counseling organizations
Teaching experience at the university level (preferred)
Expertise in crisis counseling and/or grief and loss counseling (preferred)
