University of North Carolina at Charlotte Counseling: Assistant Professor- Clinical Mental Health in Charlotte, North Carolina

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teach, advise, supervise, and mentor students in the MA and PhD counseling programs, particularly students with a clinical mental health focus

  • Actively contribute to the continuous development and assessment of the overall clinical mental health program

  • Actively engage in research and other scholarly activities in counselor education

  • Seek externally funded research grants

  • Serve on and direct dissertation committees

  • Provide service, outreach, engagement, and leadership in the Department, College, and University

Minimum Experience / Education:

UNC Charlotte gives primary consideration to the earned doctorate or terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline.

Preferred Education Skills and Experience:

  • An earned doctorate in Counselor Education from a CACREP -accredited university

  • Ability to contribute to the CACREP core and clinical mental health counseling specialty

  • Eligibility for licensure in North Carolina as a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and experience as a clinical mental health counselor

  • Experience working with a variety of client populations

  • Demonstrates promise of excellent teaching, sustainable research, and service/ outreach/engagement

  • Promise of obtaining external grant funding to support one’s research

  • Involvement in professional counseling organizations

  • Teaching experience at the university level (preferred)

Expertise in crisis counseling and/or grief and loss counseling (preferred)
