Hub International Commercial Insurance Placement Specialist in Charlotte, North Carolina

SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Chief Marketing Officer, the Commercial Insurance Placement Specialist role is responsible for the effective marketing of insurance risks to companies in accordance with the practices, policies, and procedures of the Company. The ideal candidate has knowledge of all forms of property and casualty coverage rating as well as thorough knowledge of commercial lines coverage and markets.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in the analysis of line of business and insurance company production trends and make recommendations to correct deficiencies.

  • Market all lines of commercial insurance and directly impacts revenue goals through the acquisition of new business and the retention of renewals.

  • Underwrite commercial accounts within insurance company delegated underwriting authority, guidelines, and procedures.

  • Acts as account liaison for the producer in dealing with other departments within Hub Carolinas for the quoting of specialized lines of coverage.

  • Assist producers with pre-underwriting information gathering, coverage analysis and proposal presentations if needed.

  • Execute a quality control process for policies and quotations delivered assuring coverage, condition, rating, and pricing accuracy.

  • Effectively build relationships with insurance company underwriters through a pattern of professional risk submissions, company visitations, events and hard, but fair, negotiations.

  • Maintain state of the art knowledge of market underwriting appetite, line of business trends, insurance company changes, rating technique and coverage development.

  • Demonstrate an understanding of our company utilization strategies by appropriate risk submissions.

  • Accurately maintain new business and renewal control logs, which assist the CMO in identifying trends.

  • Any other duties as appropriate and assigned by management.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 3-5 years of marketing or underwriting experience preferred or combination of insurance account manager experience.

  • The ideal candidate has knowledge of all forms of property and casualty coverage rating as well as thorough knowledge of commercial lines coverage and markets.

  • High school diploma or equivalency; college degree preferred.

  • Active insurance license (lines appropriate to office location) preferred.

  • Advanced Broker Management System experience (Applied Epic, Vertafore BenefitPoint preferred)

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel, and internet utilization

  • Strong instruction/facilitation skills

  • Excellent organizational, planning, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills

  • Excellent technical writing skills

  • Effective time management and attention to detail – effectively organize and plan work, set priorities, and execute action plans.

  • High enthusiasm, team-oriented, positive, highly energetic, and results-oriented

  • Strong written and verbal communication

  • Ability to interact and communicate positively with co-workers.

  • Ability to quickly learn and apply new systems and processes.

  • Ability to exercise independent judgement.

  • Maintains a high level of professionalism, integrity, and trust always.

  • Ability to travel as necessary throughout North and South Carolina

State insurance licenses preferred but not required.

Must be willing to obtain license within 60 days of employment.

Required Experience: 2-5 years of relevant experience

Required Travel: Up to 50%

Required Education: High school or equivalent
