Responsibilities

• Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, and other machining parameters, interpreting dimensions and tolerances.

• Plans stock inventory by checking stock to determine amount available; anticipating needed stock; working with purchasing to place and expedite orders for stock; verifying receipt of stock.

• Programs lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets; calculating requirements.

• Sets-up lathes by installing and adjusting chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, and other necessary equipment.

• Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces; adhering to international standards.

• Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.

• Use standard machine shop measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and optical comparators

• Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.

• Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.

The essential functions of this role include:

• manual lifting up to 50lbs

• standing for 5 hours at one time

• working up to 5 hrs of overtime per week
