Associate Gen Counsel - Chief Privacy Officer

As Chief Privacy Officer and Associate General Counsel – Privacy, you will lead and manage EverBank's Privacy Program. EverBank, a diversified financial institution that operating nationwide, is committed to handling consumer, customer, associate, and business contact personal information in compliance with applicable laws.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Develops EverBank’s privacy strategies, including default settings and business functional requirements for business processes that process personal information (“Privacy-by-Design”).

  • Oversees, develops and delivers initial and ongoing privacy training to employees.

  • Maintains EverBank’s privacy program and implementing procedures to enable consistent, effective privacy practices and minimize risks.

  • Provides guidance, interpretation, requirements and recommendations to enable EverBank to optimally navigate complex legal frameworks when launching new products, services and technologies.

  • Drafts external privacy notices and disclosures, and manage/update internal policies and procedures to ensure compliance with privacy laws.

  • Collaborates with Information Security Officer and Vendor Management to ensure alignment of security and privacy concerns.

  • Structures, drafts, reviews, and helps negotiate data protection terms in a variety of commercial agreements; Support Vendor Services Office in the due diligence and ongoing oversight of third-party vendors specific to privacy-related considerations.

  • Provides legal analysis in support of any incidents that require breach determination and notification processes under applicable federal and state laws.

  • Keeps abreast of evolving privacy laws and industry initiatives that may affect EverBank’s strategy, products and services and communicate those effectively to key stakeholders.

  • Engages with external stakeholders, including federal banking agencies and state regulators, on privacy related reviews and matters; coordinates with Communications on external inquiries about privacy-related matters.
