Cloud Application Security Architect - Leading Financial Institution

A leading financial institution is seeking a highly skilled Cloud Application Security Architect to join our growing security team. In this role, you will play a critical part in safeguarding our cloud-based workloads, applications, and services on Azure and GCP by implementing robust security controls and threat modeling strategies.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and implement secure architecture for cloud-based applications and services on Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

  • Conduct comprehensive threat modeling exercises to identify potential vulnerabilities and attack vectors in cloud deployments.

  • Collaborate with development teams to integrate security best practices throughout the application development lifecycle (SDLC).

  • Stay up-to-date on the latest cloud security threats, vulnerabilities, and security best practices for Azure and GCP.

  • Develop and maintain security policies and procedures for cloud environments.

  • Participate in security assessments and penetration testing engagements for cloud workloads.

  • Review and approve security architecture designs for cloud-based applications.

  • Provide technical guidance and support to development and security teams on cloud security matters.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in application security or a related security discipline.

  • Proven experience in threat modeling methodologies (STRIDE, PASTA, etc.) and cloud threat modeling frameworks.

  • In-depth knowledge of cloud security best practices for Azure and GCP (IAM, encryption, logging, monitoring, etc.).

  • Experience with secure coding principles and common application vulnerabilities (OWASP Top 10).

  • Experience working with DevOps methodologies and CI/CD pipelines.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to document findings, present recommendations, and collaborate with stakeholders.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience within the financial services industry a plus.

  • Possession of one or more industry recognized cloud security certifications (e.g., AWS CSAA, Azure Security Engineer Associate, GCP Professional Cloud Security Architect) highly preferred.
