Summary
The Spaulding Travis Roy Center for Enhanced Independence is dedicated to accelerating personal independence and quality of life for those with tetraplegia due to SCI, their families, and caregivers. The Travis Roy Center relies on three core values central to the Center’s mission: independence, accessibility, and impact to provide personalized resources in the form of physical and virtual resources for the immediate and ongoing support of people with SCI. The Travis Roy Center at Spaulding Hospital offers technologies that enable these individuals to regain functional independence in their hospital room, at-home, and within their communities.
The Travis Roy Center’s Resource Program Manager will play a vital role in coordinating and overseeing the development, implementation, and management of the center’s programs that support patients in their recovery journey. This role ensures the effective delivery of the center’s services by working closely with the center’s staff, and other departments to maintain high standards of care and operational efficiency. The Resource Program Manager will be accountable for the center’s growth, team development, budgeting, and compliance with relevant regulations, while fostering a patient-centered and collaborative environment. The resource program manager will serve as a primary point of contact for patients and their families, providing them guidance and support on technology-related resources while in-hospital and after discharge from the hospital. The manager will ensure that the supportive services align with patient-specific needs and goals, working collaboratively with healthcare providers and the center’s team.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the Center’s administration of key and supportive personnel
Assist with developing patient-centered milestones and goals as they related to the mission of the Travis Roy Center
Communicate with clinical, engineering, and outcome teams and facilitate communication between them
Active participant in the Center’s SCI Resource Consortium, a regional network that strengthens relationships between the center and special interest group members who support people with paralysis
Improve patient access to the Center by working with the Center’s team leads, clinical site managers
Promote growth of the Center to include other SRN sites
Establish program standards and ensure compliance
Collect relevant program data to complete annual grant report
Identify and address gaps in clinician knowledge with respect to assistive technologies
Establish budget to track expenses and manage spending
Work with development and leadership regarding program sustainability, new program initiatives, and additional federal funding resources (i.e., NIDLRR, NIH, DOD, NSF)
Develop presentations and education sessions for target audiences
Build relationships for program sustainability
Performance Improvement opportunities are identified and acted upon as appropriate to implement best practices
Coordinate evaluations for qualified patients per established guidelines, as needed and/or co-train with clinicians across the various network sites
Evaluation plan reflects understanding of patients’ age and situation and are revised based on patient progress towards stated goals
Documentation is complete, timely and in accordance with facility and practice guidelines

Supervisory/Managerial Responsibilities
Supervise students and assistants working within the Center.
Fiscal Responsibilities
Develop and follow annual budget consistent with grant funding.
Qualifications
Qualifications and Experience
Required Education/Degree
Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, and/or medical program.
Experience
2 – 5 years clinical and/or research experience in spinal cord injury (SCI) rehabilitation required.
Preferred:
Minimum 3 years of clinical and/or research experience in neurologic rehabilitation
Minimum 1 year experience working with assistive technology for people with paralysis
Minimum 1 year management experience
Demonstrate lived experiences with paralysis
Required Skills
BLS required
Effective verbal and written communication skills with the English language
Rehabilitation technology and computer proficiency
Appropriate knowledge of rehabilitation evaluation and treatment techniques for people with paralysis
Effective problem-solving skills for evaluation, interpretation, treatment planning and execution taking into consideration patient’s age, psychosocial, cultural and religious background
Basic skills in teaching other and self-assessment of learning needs, strengths, and professional goals
Safely execute all job responsibilities without risking injury to self or patients. Demonstrates the ability to assess and interact with patients and families using the theories of human growth and development, family systems, and cultural background
Maintain variable work schedule depending on hospital/program needs to provide patient care (evening, holidays, weekend and travel)
Highly developed communications and interpersonal skills, working with diverse population
Work independently, be self-directed and contribute as a member of a team
Anticipate challenges and develop and implement strategies to address
High level of service delivery. Demonstrate initiative with ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines and adapt to changing situations
Travel within Spaulding Rehabilitation Network required
Ability to build collaborative ventures with diverse constituents
Demonstrates abilities to organize, problem solve, teach and communicate clearly
Has the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Ability to work with patients of all ages and level of ability from pediatric to geriatric
